Thread regarding Edward Jones layoffs

Genuine morale check

I have to ask, with everything that's been happening, is there anyone left at this company who is actually happy with their job and optimistic about the future? I'm struggling to find anyone.

This su-ks and it’s horse sh*t. But I’m too polite to say anything because I’m a class act.

@r0 The problem is the job market is a mess right now for our industry unless you have a solid contact to get you through the AI filter of HR bots. The higher ups know this. It's like they get their rocks off making us more miserable while knowing most people don't have that many options right now. The company is being run by morally bankrupt people.

Is Penny in cognitive decline? Hard to believe a leader would trade off workforce morale for short term profits in a company that prides itself on the ability to think and plan for the long term. Mass resignations coming.

@qy I agree with you but it’s also a tough job market right now. PP exploiting to moment. DC said we should feel lucky to still have jobs.

Revenue and profits up but associate morale down significantly with June 1 return to office on the horizon. I don’t know about you all but my goal is to get out by June 1st. This is babysitting. ELT needs to trust their leaders. We don’t have to have one strict policy for thousands of home office associates. Interesting times ahead. My guess is massive turnover over the next few years.

Morale will stay in the dumps until one or both of these things happen:

1) SM, KJ, DC, HM, and PP are not part of the firm anymore (and decent human beings replace them).
2) Enough tenured associates and leaders leave the firm, and new people come in to not know any better or what the colleague experience used to be - and when trust and respect still was present.

The real question everyone has to ask is this: knowing the next two to three years are likely to get worse, can I realistically tolerate this leadership for that long - on the chance that things MIGHT improve?

@a4 Spot on, I feel the same!

Morale is low, like very low. Associates and leaders are burnt out and quietly looking.

@h7 Looks like HR found us… Or you guys are being serious? Have fun working at this soul su-king profit maxing organization. I’ve never seen so many leaders avoid actual work yet crack the whip on the rest of the organization to move faster. They cheer on record profits year after year but give 2-3% raises. Unless you want to brown nose your way up… GPs hate it just as much, they just can’t turn down the money.

@gc Well said - your perspective is a welcomed change on these threads. I too stopped letting it consume me - the company has moved in a different direction and I must as well.

@ca, folks are walking out due to being fed up. Unfortunately VSP folks are leaving in February and May. I guess this is what the higher ups want.

I am happy with my job and optimistic about the future. But that is because I choose to let go of the bitterness and anger. I’m done grieving. The Edward Jones company I knew and loved is dead. I work for a new company now. I accept the way things are. This new company does not define me. My identity is not tied up there. I see the senior leaders for who they are. But I also choose to accept the paycheck I get every other week. So I will do the work I was hired to do because I have integrity. If the moment arises where I have an opportunity to leave and earn a living elsewhere, I will. Until then, I’ll keep taking care of the people I work with and do the best job I can and make the best of it. I don’t work because it’s fun. I work to feed my family. I am optimistic because my life doesn’t revolve around Edward Jones. I am not dependent on the company for my happiness and satisfaction in life.

I personally like my role because of the knowledge, subject, and helping. I just don’t feel safe and I feel things have gotten more strict and expectations have gone higher without the training.

@a4 I’m a TL that stands for my team. There is so much bureaucracy now it’s ridiculous. Enterprise Reimagined did not streamline things for the better.

@OP , no I'm not happy and I've been here 15+ years. I'm looking elsewhere and it's a tough market out there. I had one financial firm tell me they cant match what I make at EJ. It su-ks.

I'm also torn as I've accumulated so much sick/PTO. It will be hard to find a new career that would offer this; unless one went into business for themselves.

All I can do is be grateful I still am able to provide for my family and I.

I certainly don't. I thought Jones was safe to invest my time and future in, turns out it's not. Can't feel safe anymore, no one is, and they know it.

I've been here just shy of 20 yrs and have been in several different areas. I've seen A LOT. Good and bad. As of today I've never seen a more burnt out, checked out, cynical, and jaded home office. The only good thing about this new "culture" is most of the people doing the actual work are all on the same page. We see the disaster from the higher ups and see how our TL/DLs fall into 1 of 2 camps. Yes men who read and drink the kool aid talking points and are just doing what they can save themselves, Or they are in the 2nd camp of being cynical like the people under them and are doing what they can to keep the peace while looking outside of EDJ. It is toxic AF now and I've never seen the leadership above DL so out of touch with reality. It's as if they don't care and are drunk on their own power. Some of them are almost malicious in their attempts to weild their power and make things worse for the people who make this machine function. It didn't need to be this way either, but PP needs to be loved by her east coast clique`so here we are.
