Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

How do those who have been with Verizon for less than a year fare in these layoffs?

Was hired less than 12 months ago from an external company. Wondering if this helps or hurts in layoffs. Do you still get 2 weeks severance or less?

@OP Who's to say for sure but in my group (Wireless Network), I've seen more tenured employees get let go than those that were here less than a couple of years. As a matter of fact, I cannot recall a single newer employee getting laid off.

I wish you well.

If your org is deemed as not needed, then you wind up being let go with everyone else. This has happened many times in this company.

They don't care about tenure.

@a2+1k9mhms4f performance matters not anymore. I've seen some stellar employees let go and/or outsourced. All you have to do is look at the state of some of our internal systems to see that.

Typically employees with < 1 year of service are not included in RIFs. That being said, the minimum severance is 2 weeks. If you have more than 1 year of service, regardless of length of time in current position, you are fair game.

@OP how about for those internally transferred into a different team inside VZ for less than a year.

If you aren't a stand out performer, you aren't safe. That's every company.
