Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

VRP

The VRP rumors continue to fly. August has come and went with no news. If it is going to be offered the timing will be different, probably offer on Christmas Day or the day before as a early Christmas present

@16e 1. Do you really think that they care about how they look at this point? 2 it’s good for the to layoff frozen pension employees that are 55 as then with the bad economy they can bank on them cashing out the pension and get it off the books

@16e why do you say that. For today’s leadership, people who are VRP eligible have no more power than interns.

It’s sad, but leadership probably wants you gone more than anyone else. Need more cheap H1Bs or family members to replace you.

@141 They cant just lay off all the pensioners who are near retirement, not a good look. If they do they will get the max severence packages of everyone due to their tenure.

VRP is over. If you didn't take it already, expect a layoff.

@hd I was one of those many experienced people targeting 12/31/25 as a retirement date, but the last VRP prompted me to pull the ripcord earlier.
Gonna be an interesting 2026 and beyond.. Good Luck everyone!

@d6 Frozen pensions can be cashed out so long as your 55.

After Jan 1st there a ton of high cost high powered employees who have nothing to gain with a frozen pension. What incentive do they have to stay at that point? I think you will see a mass exodus and a huge brain drain then and I wonder who will be left that can actually run the company? We will be left with 2022s or 2023s college interns running the show with no experience or work ethic!

@d6 For as long as they still need to have layoffs to cut costs it makes better financial sense to get pensioners off the books vs laying off of non pensioners, after Jan 1 they will have to begin matching 401k contributions for up to 8 % of their income because if length of service most if them have.

@OP there’s far more people in the frozen pension than there are in the grandfathered pension. The folks in the frozen pension see zero benefits by waiting till 12//31. A lot of the grandfathered pension folks left when the lump sum started dropping. I don’t see any benefit of waiting for the company. Speculation I believe and lots of false rumors made up by people that think they’ve got it figured out.

My understanding is no more VRP because the end of pension contribution is 12/31. The company will hold off the next VRP to see who leaves on 12/31.
