Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

if you are diligent and have developed irreplaceable hard skills

Being here for just under a year, I have several colleagues who are outright mo--ns and it is hard to find anyone who is here to do anything besides mouth breathe.

I used to fix their work, and complain about it and try to fix the root problems.

But because Fiserv is a trash company with trash policy, I could just try to get them promoted and make them look even better than they are. It is not possible that I am here long term either way; Head hunters call me almost daily now, and I regret choosing this job over another after the bait and switch with 8 hours instead of daily flex and 5 day RTO.

So this could be a good way to let Fiserv keep treating itself like it treats the best employees: Get the absolute best trait at what they are already optimizing for in employees promoted, to get their 5-10% raise...

Because in perspective, either way... I will leave. There is unsustainable levels of stupidity and lazy grifters here. Most of the people at Fiserv will find similar work and have the same problems to deal with but the most qualified with options can help Fiserv advance it's own company agenda. And the longer they are at Fiserv the worse it looks.

In any case... Long live the 5-day-RTO. It doesn't matter what happens here in the long run.

@OP I think you should accelerate you timeline and just leave since you are at the point of posting here. A working salary is not worth that much these days. If you are well qualified you will bounce back from anything.

@et Secretive operations?... In reality mostly everyone just doesn't know anything, instead of everyone knows everything and is hiding it.

I would be lucky if I even come across someone in another department who knows why the API I access does something.

They are more interested in promoting bunch of yes-man and stealing other's work as credits of their own. If you wonder what's up with all the secretive operations with zero transparency, that's why.

@eg As an RTO'd you will be in the ballpark of 0.3%-3.5%. Congratulations.

@e9 Generally, most roles don’t require any security clearance to get started. There’s a background check during the hiring process, though. You’ll get your laptop pretty quickly in your first week. How fast everything else gets set up will depend on how proactive you are in getting things in place.

It’s worth remembering that people typically appreciate when qualified individuals make their decision to move on if they’re not satisfied with their current situation, like at Fiserv.

If you’re feeling upset about corrections being made to your work, it might be helpful to reflect on why those mistakes happen rather than reacting emotionally. Being able to self-check would also help in the long run, and it could even make it easier for you to find other opportunities. It’s probably not worth getting hung up on random posts from others on a layoff board. And I’d advise against feeling too resentful — especially if you're based in the US, where pay tends to be higher compared to other places.

@ek Not everyone is born with a silver spoon in their a-s. I am not a gen Z or alpha I am older generation, and we don't wait on our parents to remind us to clean up our room.

@e9 It takes you one year to do that. People in my department start with developer laptop. If we don't we don't wait for Mom and Dad to do it for us.

If you have no future at Fiserv why are you still working here with recruiters reaching out? Everyone should be fleeing this sinking ship. Why bother trying to right it if you can work for any other company that isn't failing?

Refusing RTO has gotten me a FANTASTIC 1.26% raise. 1.26% HA! They just want you to quit so they don't have to pay anything out Now that they have me cheap for another year, likely I'm at the bottom of the list. . YEESH!

So you have been under one year and claim to do all that? It takes weeks to even get a laptop and another month to get security clearance. So yes I don’t believe you are all that great. If you have so many headhunters begging you, please go ahead. We mo—ns promise we won’t miss your genius corrections of our erroneous ways! Typical Gen z/alpha who thinks he is a super techie because they are a instasnaptok user
