Thread regarding Humana Inc. layoffs

Pay Compression Is Out of Control

There is significant pay compression happening across nursing teams.
New hires, including nurses with minimal experience and recent graduates, are being hired at higher rates than long-tenured nurses.
In many cases, these higher-paid new hires are being trained by the lower-paid, more experienced staff.
Leadership has also communicated that there will be no raises this year.
This leaves experienced nurses with no mechanism to address the gap.
It’s worth asking how sustainable this model is for retention and morale.
What leverage, if any, do employees actually have here?

@1e5 this isn’t a matter of YOE or high COL. I wish it was because that would make sense.

Salary probably includes consideration for location & relevant experience but yes, things are a little out of kilter at the moment.

Several of the SNP new hires are making $91,000 per year with less than 5 years of RN experience. I know because I referred my friends. Quite a slap in the face to be making less than they are.

Several new hires were started at 90,000 per year, one on another team 87,000 no UR experience.

@xd assuming your VPs last name rhymes with house and is a pesky rodent. He’s a marginal leader and only cares about himself and his DEI agenda.

Sad. Nurses training new hires who are making MORE than everyone else. Oh and by the way, you aren't getting a raise so you have no chance to catch up to the new hires. To add insult, you have to work mandatory overtime and if you don't fulfill your requirement you will be "coached" according to the VP. What company does this to it's employees?

@dq isn’t it pretty easy to change jobs as a nurse? It’s not like demand isn’t there in the market like a lot of other jobs right now, so what’s keeping you at Humana, you must be staying for some reason?

It’s really embarrassing that those of us with 20-30yrs nursing experience (critical care/ER/HH) are being treated like toddlers! Total micromanaging at its finest! Hats off to all these new inexperienced nurses coming into the cr-p shoot CM roles! We have horrible operating systems from our computers to the “let’s save money” dialer system now in place! Total joke! As the saying goes, “you get what you pay for!” But yet the ones dealing with all the difficult patients, multiple hours trying to get in touch with dr’s offices, etc. are to blame for not meeting engagements! How about the “big dogs” sending the emails treating us like school age children take a day of being in the dialer and dealing with the issues we all face daily!

@bg I recommend that you ask around. The latest rounds of newly hired nurses are being paid more than those who’ve been with the company for a decade. It’s humiliating.

I don't think there are that many high paying nurses being hired. I am not sure how much the Sagility nurses are getting paid, but the coaches who are managing low members with no clinical experience at all (and educating about chronic conditions), very little.

They want us to leave. Little do they know, Sagility hired thousands of people to work for cheap rate with NO medical experience in Humana care management roles and it is a breach of contract they have with Humana! They just caught it and are trying to back track!
