@13b There is no doubt that every organization would benefit from competent management. The topic of this thread however is "January layoffs", not incompetent management.

Tech is way over budget (and will be for years) and the quickest way to lower costs is to cut heads. Early in the fiscal year is the best time to realize the savings. Consultants are more expensive but are under a different budget line and lowers the overall labor cost compared to a full-timer. It’s accounting math.
