Let Go 1 Week Before Christmas

A colleague was just let go, one week before Christmas. We fall under the Enterprise Onboarding Platform. My team is already short staffed and will now be spread even thinner. SHAME ON YOU, BRAD OCKENE, DANA PARKS, AND ALL MANAGEMENT UNDER THEM WHO WERE COMPLIANT WITH THIS DECISION. Absolutely heartless.

@fk
You obviously do not work here. BNY is forever selling services and products that we do not have fully automated and/or support poorly. This is especially true of clients that want derivatives like futures, swaps, options, hedge Fx…. Onboarding is not some flip the switch. It is a vital critical function that requires good management and proper timing and conversion execution and post op handling.
This will never be automated here. Especially with this regime.

Good luck to you in what is next. It’s never easy to lose a job, especially around the holidays.

That being said, you were in client onboarding. We would completely automate that function if/when possible. It’s not even close to being value-add; it’s a tick the box thing to get a client up and running. If you willingly work in a function like onboarding or other administrative roles that just cost the bank money, you absolutely must be honest with yourself that you were hired to perform a function that’ll be eliminated as soon as feasible. If you need something quick that’s fine, but don’t plan a career around it. I really think once this is behind you, and you find something hopefully closer to being core to your next company, you will consider this a blessing. Right now I’m sure it doesn’t feel that way.

It’s a sh-tshow at BNY. I was forced out about 9 months ago. It’s probably the best thing that happened to me. I got a better job, with better management and better teammates. I sleep better now and many of my debts are going down due to better pay. BNY is not worth the pain and trouble for the peanut salary they give. The cronies of RV are spineless ,backstabbing , conscience-less , useless id--ts. BNY doesn’t deserve diligent hard working employees.

When I was at BNY, I would go into a major depressive state starting in October when management would begin sharing about forced ratings with actions resulting from the rating. I knew my employees would hate me and not trust me. Finally got out of there and can report it IS NOT like that everywhere. Do like management says when promotions and raisers are scarce, own your career as they suggest, using that energy to get out of there. I can actually sleep at night now.

Even in at-will employment cultures, there’s an expectation of basic decency:

“If there’s ever a time to pause, it’s now.”

Breaking that norm feels like a betrayal, especially for long-tenured or loyal employees.

Yes, most people, including many leaders and HR professionals, consider holiday terminations to be heartless unless there’s a truly urgent reason. That view is normative, not emotional.

Reputation damage outweighs benefit
Internally, it harms trust. Externally, it hurts employer brand.

Christmas ,,,, Holidays….. feh…
The MF-ers in upper mgmt don’t believe in God
They believe in worshipping the guy in the redsuit and pitchfork while inflicting pain.

If you received below expectations on your review, Hr required direct mgrs have to deliver the options by 12/19. Its immediate or notice period option to work during it. Beyond pathetic for one. And whoever altered ratings should be delivering this instead of hiding

I once sat there and listened to Brad talk so much cr-p about people who were worried about how the enterprise was using AI. He’s a clown

@ac Dana left a few months ago. Yes, her based at home position may well have been a factor in her moving on.

Dana Parks left a few months ago. She has not been involved for a while.

But yes, a lot of staff in Enterprise Onboarding has gone globally.
