Thread regarding Kroger Co. layoffs

In office expectations

I hear that KTD managers were told that their local employees need to be in the office a certain percentage of the time. And if the employees don’t hit that that quota the manager must explain why.

This leads me to ask, what is the percent that will trigger the need to report on an employee? And what are the consequences for the employee? Because up to now there has been 0 enforcement of this policy.

@1aq prefer they hurry up cause at this point its hard to care about the work. I wish they would just offer a option to take severance and walk. Pretty sure a ton of people would accept that offer fast.

Yeah if you are remote or not coming into the office I'd start getting backup plans ready next month.

@10q they created a powerbi report for badge scans now and are pulling random days to check attendance

@qw That would make too much sense for Kroger to do. We have to remember that our new “brilliant” CEO is a Walmart man.

@10n what departments did this happen in?

Managers were called out in their meeting and several people were fired for abusing badging. Managers were told all open reqs are closed and no roles will be backfilled. #1 priority reducing costs. Layoffs coming

I can't wait to take my severance and run

Yeah, I just got that message from my manager. Can't wait to waste time, money, and gas to work in a place where I'm less productive and much less happy. I've lost all good will for this company.

I wouldn't worry too much about RTO. With the fuel shortages we're about to be dealing with in the U.S. I wouldn't be surprised if we have to WFH again like many other countries are doing right now to ration fuel.

What is interesting is that as RTO progressed to 5 days in the office, each time it was announced as mandatory and expected but management also claimed to be emphatic and flexible with statements about how much they care and are appreciative of all the work we do. Every time there has been a change to RTO expectations, these statements were made followed with “work it out with your manager”. So it will be interesting to see who is held accountable…. Management or individual contributors.
