Do you think that Merck's West region will be affected by the upcoming layoffs?

We are in the middle of yet another round of layoffs here at Merck. Kenilworth, Philadelphia, Rahway, Gwynedd, you name it.

I just noticed that some of my peers have been gone for a month or two? Is Merck doing it with less bang this time around (silent layoffs)?

Over 7,200 positions, or 12% of our workforce was cut during this period. 2014 will not be any better and we cut few hundred positions in 2013....

500 folks will be let go by Jan 5 2014 - West Point Montgomery County... WARN notices have been filed, so we already know what's going to happen. Montco folks know what to expect, this is not the first time they are going through cuts.

Do you guys have any info on a typical severance package structure and values? Comp? Number of Weeks? How about Cobra - any info is greatly appreciated...

what\'s happening with the sales-force right now? i saw some classified job postings - this leads me to believe that at least in some geographies things are improving (this was in the north east region)
