How bad is Gorgon’s problem with the heat exchanges?

The local rag had an article about Gorgon’s challenges describing the parts that may need to be exchanged being the equivalent of Having a lego Star War’s Death Star and needing to swap out pieces in the centre. How real is this and what’s the down... — read more

EOI and Contract Work

After being laid off as a result of EOI can you come back as a contractor and continue to work for Chevron?

EOI Question

My strategy is to EOI in round 4. If I wait until the last minute (October 11) to announce my intentions, will I be notified with the rest of round 4 participants that my EOI was accepted? It looks like the 60 day period to accept the severance... — read more

CEO direct reports diversity

Out of 12 direct reports: 9 white males 2 white females (one of them is an admin asst) 1 black female (Human Resources, of course) Will there be an article bragging about this diversity coming out soon?

The truth (well maybe sometimes)

Corporate restructuring is expensive. Those who are laid-off in the energy patch often get generous severance packages, pension payouts and job placement services. That costs the company big money. Productivity usually drops off a cliff during... — read more

Lump sum pension

Looks like we're in historical low pension segment rates. Novermber/December should be a great time for taking lump sum pension

Real change or just new vocabulary lessons

As I get longer in the tooth I have seen my share of great new paradigm shifts trumped in often enough but find most significant advances happen incrementally by gradually optimizing the current organization and operations. I worry about this big... — read more

D&I by the numbers

A quick look at the numbers after R2 selection event. Using round number of 200 R2 positions before and 160 after, a 20% reduction. Before Total positions - 200 Men - 160 (80%), Women - 40 (20%) W - 150 (75%) A - 26 (13%) L - 12 (6%) B -... — read more

Why complain?

I stay dumbfounded as to why employees of a company complain too much about said company. CVX has good salaries (not the top), great 401, great pension (good luck getting one with another company). If you are unhappy why not just leave? You don’t... — read more

Why restructure?

Why is Chevron going through a restructure? I hear they have the best additive company in the business? I also hear they have the best field testing team in the country? I just don't understand.

Your Career

Chevron D&C Ex, here. I left a year ago as a high pot. No, not to join a "startup." I did not leave because I felt management was out of touch and cared about the wrong things. I left because I saw all of my peers care more about doing things and... — read more

Digital Transformation 6.0? .. Wait, what year is it?

As a caveat I have not applied nor do I believe either of these MIT or Rice comp-sci/business programs would be a good fit for my analog mind, but I feel I need to voice that upper management keeps missing mark on restructurings, agile, and "nextGen"... — read more

Chevron Retirees Group

I am not sure of the exact name, but I plan to join the Chevron Retirees group when I retire this year if my EOI is accepted. Does anyone have experiences with the group they would like to share? Do you get much benefit, other than connecting with... — read more

Let's be honest about Chevron, just for once

So many negative posts about Chevron and all for the right reasons. Besides the fake news lets just be honest once and say it the way it is. Is Chevron trull a eFed up company as it looks here? I think it is, but I wanted to hear it from others.

Round 2 diversity metrics

So after this email from RM about the diversity metrics, I can’t wait to see what happens in my selection round. I’m thrilled we have the diversity coaches here to ensure we don’t just pick the most qualified person for the job, regardless of... — read more

Round two bust

I don’t know about your area, but from what I could see Round 2 was a bust. The same old faces, including mostly mentally unstable old white guys along with a smattering of truly whacked white women. All the losers people expected to retire lost... — read more

cracks in Gorgon propane kettles does not sound good

Does anyone know how serious this is? "When maintenance workers recently unpacked the replacement kettles and performed non-destructive testing, they found thousands of cracks in the steel shells, according to sources on the site." "Boiling Cold... — read more

Round 2 results

Interesting round 2 results and some of the names that didn't appear on any of the lists, especially IT.

Why now?

Who thought a major acquisition in the middle of a pandemic with no end in sight (and guaranteed long term consequences on our industry once it does end) is a great idea? Was it really necessary to do this right now? Can somebody tell me any... — read more

Employees with Chevron toy car collections

Some of the sadder sights back in the days we worked in offices was seeing people with collections of toy gas station cars in their offices. I don’t mean the fabulous Texaco scale tanker trucks, I mean those id–tic Chevron toys with the freaky faces... — read more

Round 3 Results?

Anyone hear about round 3 results? Was it the same chaos as round 2?

Question for IT

Not directly layoff related but only to make the point how CVX is not great at being digital...question is why is skype still up and working like normal after making such a big deal of it going away?

CVX Acquires Noble Energy

Since the "Transformation" is going so well, might as well through a wrench into things by making an acquisition at the same time.

be grateful not resentful

more and more posts here every day of people complaining about things that are no different than in any other company. yes, we have layoffs. imagine that, a company laying off people in the middle of a crisis to save money. it's unheard of... — read more

So When Do These Large Layoffs Actually Happen?

It seems that Chevron is taking months and months to put together a layoff plan and then months and months more to follow through. At least everyone is getting a few extra pay checks.

EOI payment turn around time?

Curious if anyone has received their benefit yet (Severance) and how long process took to get cash? All I have is "one week after final date you get email, you respond, we hold for 7 days, then payment made when prudent"...Thanks.

Chevron in 3 decades??

With renewables and electric car growth will chevron still be around in 3 decades? If not then EOI looks more attractive. What do you think?
