Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Yep good old T sure doesn't believe in their employees or listen to them. This week sure proved that didn't it.

good to hear that smart people are finding better companies and better positions that use the latest technology and believe in their employees no matter what age and no matter what benefits they are getting.

every time eznj , 1cbx, and -akh make new comments just take it as sarcastic humor and be glad you are not at their lower intellectual and professional level. they're probably just 14 year old kids sitting at home with nothing else better to do, their comments are totally irrelevant.

Great post and goes to show even though you keep your industry relevant skills up to date they could care less unless you succumb to their brainwashing and you are connected somehow.

@gia congrats on your new position and I know you will be a lot happier.

This is so true I cannot believe how nice people are at my new place vs att and looking how some people just rip into others on this board is proof how horrible of a place att is to work.

Thanks for enlightening us that other companies exist. I didn't know. Did it ever occur to you that maybe some of us make decent money and aren't playing games. Why do I care what the vp's do? I doubt you are qualified to tell me what they are doing anyway. You worked for the company until your fifties so doesn't sound like they were keeping you down.

man this couldn't be more accurate. t is hiring so many geniuses with so many degrees and so much so called advanced technology I am surprised all the egos can fit in one company. there are so many companies doing so many greater things with so many less people out there it isn't funny.

the so called pivoting classes were a joke. what purpose did they really serve?

gee I wonder if they are spending any money on testing 5g and it's effect on the human body.

but that may cost too much and not really be profitable in the short term.

So you left. Congratulations. Do you want a cookie? Nobody cares. You’re coworkers are glad you left. That’s one headcount down possibly saving their job. Management doesn’t care. They’re meeting their numbers and they’ll just hire another grunt to do the work if they’ve cut too deep.

To akh I never got lower than meets and sometimes exceeds on any section on any of reviews. But you must be one of those managers that don’t have the guts to talk face to face with the people that work in your group.

You two just reinforce my feelings about leaving and make even happier I did. Good luck to both of you I hope you enjoy your career.

We're glad you left too. You're attitude was bad, your work ethics worse and your inability to learn and perform your job was abysmal

My last day with ATT is next Friday. I'm leaving voluntarily.

We've become used to at least one annual surplus a year. It makes you feel undervalued and like a sword is over your head all the time. Why try any harder; you may get laid off any day with no warning.

There are no opportunities for growth or advancement. To be clear, there's always more work to do, but never a new title or increase in pay. Despite excellent job reviews and an expressed desire to move up, I was silently denied a promotion I was more than qualified for. All the training we've done the past couple of years, to get us "ready" for 2020? Crickets chirping. What was the purpose of that, then?

Our financial systems are Rube Goldberg-esq, and fail constantly. The numbers we're reporting for internal planning and results are questionable at best.

The changes to the telecommuting policy are a 180 degree step backwards. They make no rational sense. Why did the company give us admittedly excellent tools to work from anywhere with anyone...only to make us all come back into offices....to still work remotely with remote people? It defies reason. Where is the benefit to ATT? All I see happening is my already small raise going into my gas tank for commuting.

I found a new job in less than a month. It makes me sad to leave ATT, as I'd planned to spend my entire career there. I have a great team, and I'm sorry to leave them. But it's become clear to me, through both actions and inactions, that ATT doesn't care about its people. ATT is not interested in maintaining a strong, loyal workforce to keep the company running. It's the people who integrate all of these companies ATT keeps absorbing. It's the people who build and maintain the networks (although I would agree that we've largely lost the ability to do that since we've outsourced everything). Yet they keep all of us uncertain, scared, and underfed, so to speak.

I'm tired of being beat down. My new employer will appreciate me.
