1) Slash their wireless prices to be on par with European pricing models. Won't make as much per customer, but will greatly increase the customer base. Akin to selling one Ferrari at $100k or two dozen of them at $10k each. ( A lot more folks out there willing to spend $10k vs $100k ) Other carriers will have to follow suit or risk losing everyone.
2) DirecTv needs to ditch the old business model and go full blown a - la - carte. Pick your channels at X dollars per channel ( no more than a few dollars per channel ). Toss in a % discount if you choose Y number of channels. It is the only way to compete with streaming. Notice Netflix doesn't force you to buy ESPN, the Jesus Channels or channels in a language I don't even speak. If your channel can't survive on it's own without being forced bundled into a package, then it doesn't deserve to survive.
3) Start thinking beyond Game of Thrones because, once that series finishes up, HBO is going to be just another premium channel that replays the same 3-4 movies a thousand times a month.
Exactly what @YHKdTsz-1xlj said. This gives us a chance.
