Oh please, read the artcle carefully. This is just another sleazy PR stunt.
Quote: The job fair, held in the Moody Community Center at 3725 Fulton St., is part of a city initiative to address barriers to employment. Turnaround Houston offers access to job training, resume writing, tattoo removal, social service agencies, educational institutions, counseling and intervention to help hard-to-employ Houstonians.
This is a job fair for the hard to employ. Do you think thousands of crack programmers will be there? What do you think Houston's hard to employ are like?
They can say the're looking to hire ten thousand people going in and not hire anybody because they didn't find anyone qualified. The fact that Houston is not a CZ should be a clue as to how little intention they have of actually hiring anybody.
They're just going to wave the flag and make a show of what a good corporate citizen ATT is and how much they value diversity.
This is ATT we're talking about. You can't tsake anything they tell the public at face value.
