Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

SmartChk

I hate BS metrics like SmartChk every single customer. But I don’t agree walk out watch is a problem. Even if customers don’t use it there is no harm in showing them and creating an account. Unlike SmartChk you don’t have to do it a dozen times per day with no evident benefit for the average person.

It really doesn’t take that much time and there is no other potential downside in setting up a login for the customer and showing them how to use it.

How many TV sales per day is each rep in your store doing? 3, 4, 5? You make it sound like you have a line of people all setting up DTV and waiting to get user names and passwords. If that is true, then don’t complain — because you are making way more money than the rest of us.

In reality each rep in your store probably sell 5-10 directv per month on average which is one every 3 days. Setting up a log in that someone might enjoy is just not a big deal when you do it every third day.

“WTR is even worse. CES are sent out within the first 24 hours. You get a customer when they're at their happiest. So they're going to give a top rating. This will show stock holders a very positive perspective for AT&T. Try sending a CES a month after the purchase. Right after the customer has received their first bill. A bill filled with proration, activation fees, slammed with insurance, MPP and DTV Now. Wow, that would destroy their stats.“

Keep in kind the company doesn’t show WTR to their shareholders, they use WTR to how well liked the company is....

They are starting a trial now where they contact customers after 4 weeks and 8 weeks. You are there is a major drop off in scores.

Yo, this is a layoff board. Not a place for you to complain about not being able to manage your metrics.

"Lies, damned lies, and statistics" is a phrase describing the persuasive power of numbers, particularly the use of statistics to bolster weak arguments. Mark Twain understood. At&t management sticks their collective head in the sand.

Ah, yes. I am not familiar with SmartChk. But I am familiar with At&t b---s--- metrics, They can't help themselves. This is how many in cushy positions, justify themselves. At&t is all about numbers. Numbers that are fudged, manipulated and so on. I told my area manager, that I can give you all the numbers you want, and get absolutely NOTHING accomplished. He agreed. I was in a skip level with my VP recently. She mentioned that At&t is driven by numbers, and with a smile on her face lamented the bygone days of Ed Whitacre.
