Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Keep millennials out of AT&T

Most of the millennials I worked with at AT&T lacked basic communications and people skills. One of the 20-somethings I worked with who was hired to handle social media couldn't compose a 140-character tweet on his own, so the company hired an agency to do it for him. Then he insulted the agency and AT&T corporate communications so badly that both groups refused to work with him. Yet it took nearly two years for AT&T to get rid of him. I saw other millennials openly go against management's requests, then tell their supervisors they'd complain to HR if they were called out. They'd roll in at 10 and leave by 4. Deadlines were targets, and if they missed one, oh well. If AT&T is trying to build a staff of millennials, everyone over 35 should leave now and let them have the company. It won't last more than a year.

Now you're butthurt because i called u out on it and yes, someone can be more hateful than you are. You're the nutjob to be even considering of thinking to keep the entire generation out of work.

@1ysj (aka @1sew) you need to take a step back. You’re taking these posts way to personal. Take notice of the first reply @vwq. He may not be a Boomer, as I am, but very near it. And defending the Millenials, and all generations before and after....he was talking about perspective!

Even @svs, spinning a short story....again, perspective! It all looks different depending what side of the door you’re on.

The OP started a thread, made a case that Millenials have it easy and are not équipt without assistance, or cause more trouble than they solve, get special treatment or have a sense of entitlement, come in late and leave early....Maybe yes, maybe no!

What you could have done was make a counter argument, you must have stories of your own. The OP made their point without insulting someone’s brain size, wishing anyone to die and so on. Learn how to have a debate instead of an argument.

And one last thought. Every manager at T, no matter the field, teaches downward. Everyone that becomes a manager teaches younger managers 5,10 years younger. Every non manager will mentor a less experienced and so on. Your boss, who you might think is great, was taught by a more experienced manager and right up the chain. Take a breath, it really isn’t personal, unless you let it be

@1sew, You have a definite fixation with death....”like it or not, dinosaurs are dying. Seriously just die out already. How’s that sound?” You have a mean attitude peanut, you show a disrespect beyond the norm, and you got angry that I called you out. I expect to see you on CNN soon, Wolf Blitzer will report, “And he knew four languages.”

I probably got carried away with the quip on your folks, and for that I should apologize...........................

The fact that you claim to be versed in four languages, impresses me not. I will simply tell people that I met a Millenial nut job online who was equally and ignorantly versed in four languages but was fixated on death, dinosaurs and filled with untold anger with his older piers.

Bye Peanut.

@peanut, whats the matter? Are u hurt? All u got is correct my grammar? Well peanut, i speak 4 languages, sorry that my English is not that great, but i bet that's all you ever know. You spit a hateful comment, it spits back at ya. Now go die peanut, my parents are already dead. No need for address, your ash shall be spread in the sewer.

@1ysj, well that settles it, no funeral invite for you! BTW, in grammar context, “trying to eliminate all the millennials coz of some folks u know don’t (does not, peanut!) represent the whole generation.

You’re absolutely correct peanut, you have done quite well on your own with your reply. If I change my mind and invite you to my funeral, what’s your parents address?

Yep, the one 20 something u know represents all the millenials inside your peanut brain. The world caters to millenials now, like it or not, dinosaurs are dying, the only businesses catering to dinosaurs are funeral services and life insurance. Seriously, just die out already. Hows that sound? Trying to eliminate all the millenials coz of some folks u know dont represent the whole generation.

I am sick of (some) kids and their entitlement mentality have to be constantly praised and coddled and told how great a job they are doing. Retail reps, IHX, techs, care etc are all full of them!

Have to bring the "kids" in. We "old" folks are just going to get older. Look - I enjoy the - why doesn't my boss protect me (?) or I'm not doing that because I'm not working extra hours (?) being irritating. You learn or you don't survive. End of story.

easy sparky, Every generation has complained about the generations after them and those before them. That's the way life works. Unfortunately, as you grow older, you tend to forget how you felt when you were young. But it was very likely the same as the generation of young people now. Old people are always shocked by the way young people dress - parents have to tell their kids to dress more modestly, that's part of their job, it doesn't mean your mom didn't wear short skirts in the 70s or 80s. Murder rates have always been dreadful - living in Victorian London you would be more likely to be murdered than you would be living in Chicago today - maybe older people just remember their childhood fondly and can't help projecting their dissatisfaction with their own sadness at getting old, or coming to terms with the changing world, onto the young people they see enjoying it.
