Bring in somebody from the outside like IBM did in the 1990's. Lou Gerstner cleaned house starting at the top. Executives were required to just 'talk' rather than using 'slides'. Those who were simply parroting what their teams told them were OUT! Yeah, Lou had to do layoffs, but he did it quickly and reoriented IBM strategy. Lou made the elephant dance and everyone won as a result.
Unfortunately, AT&T is blind to the fact we have the same executive team, slogging us thru the same losing strategies year after year. There is a reason why AT&T DOES NOT recruit from top MBA schools, top MBA students do not want to work for AT&T. They prefer Apple, Microsoft, Google, etc.... AT&T only recruits from mid-tier and below MBA schools which does not bode well for the future....
