Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

The number keeps growing

It looks like Wells Fargo had major layoffs this week, but it's just hitting the news cycle now. Over 600 people were laid off throughout the company. We heard about separate instances, but now we finally have an official number, and its higher than we thought.

I'm just hoping this does not continue next week...

We should be filing a class action lawsuit for leadership's negligence resulting in lost wages (layoffs) and lost share price value in our 401Ks. AND it's difficult to find new employment because you are tainted by scandalous company and few would consider hiring you. My husband is an attorney and thinks WF employees would have an excellent case.

They need a tax cut... like all big corps. Right? If you voted for the imbeciles who passed the tax cuts - this is what you voted for. Might want to give a ponder.

Wells Fargo has always been a great company for me to work at personally. Much better than some other prior companies that I have worked for. I have never personally encountered a dishonest or untrustworthy co-worker at Wells Fargo, that I cannot say the same about for other prior companies that I have worked for.

For the remaining employees, not laid off, rather than "give up" they will have to step up to the task at hand if they wish to remain as employees of Wells Fargo. Where they have a great 401K plan, lot's of paid vacation time, great medical benefits, etc. The "grass is not always greener", so if you are a lucky surviving internal employee than it would be in your best interests to continue to work hard and try to help make the company successful again. You can stay "until the end" and take any severance package or just "bail out" and leave for a possibly lesser job opportunity. Now if you find a BETTER job than "you are good to GO!". Just my personal opinion, I am sure not all agree.

I would happily take a layoff from this company. I'm embarrassed to admit that I even work here.

When Wells Fargo, or any other bank, lets their very experienced, well trained employees go they then will likely end up working for the competition. They may then work for another bank, trained by Wells Fargo, with their great skills and knowledge now competing with Wells Fargo. It really is not in the best interests of a company to eliminate their long term, very experienced, well trained employees just because of a short term setback in business and profits. Instead, when business picks up again, they will have to hire and train new employees that will not acquire the skills of the laid off employees for many years to come. How is that profitable to the company? If the outcome is dire and an end is near for the company so then fine. However IF the company plans to succeed better in the future keeping it's original employees will be the way to go forward.

I think that the Wells Fargo Mortgage department may be very sorry that it now will lack the great experience of the knowledgeable, dedicated, soon to be former employees, when the mortgage business picks back up in the future. It will cost the company a lot of time and money to train new employees, who will not have the great experience of the former employees, for many years to come. It would be in the best interests of the company to retain the current knowledgeable employees, in some capacity, until the business picks back up rather than pay to start all over with new, unexperienced employees. The company does not realize the great skills that will be lost forever when they eliminate their long term experienced mortgage employees.

Nice reminder to just go home on time to my family rather then work hard for them. No raises no matter performance, c-appy morale and always demanding more work.

Fairly certain they announce notices one day a month. So should be in the clear until September.
