Mine wasn't on my last check, about 2 weeks later.

The state law that requires it to be paid with the last check was one that was waived in the release for me

Verizon Wireless has turned into a terrible company to work for. What a bunch of greedy a--holes. I was part of the April layoffs. I was an Ops person. Customers loved me...always worked hard. Always great feedback. I Had over 10 years there. Upper management has no clue what they are doing. Not a damn clue. Such a massive disconnect between them and store employees. Seriously, when was the last time these sales directors and pompous regional directors worked with customers? I dont mean visit a store, talk to 3 customers, and ask them general questions. I want to see these idiots actually try to sell. I want them to use the techniques they say and the scripts they tell us to use. Id love to see them fail. They probably dont even know how to use any of the devices VZW sells. We should give THEM an "action plan" on performance. Whats the matter Lowell? That monotone voice and lack of personality not helping your sales? Here's an action plan for you Lowell: Go to hell. Vzw is going to waste away soon due to poor management decisions. If anyone here still works for them, find a new job or get blindsided by them.

Verizon abruptly dropped Bloombergs TV on their Fios network Dec 8 right before Xmas.

Without even informing their customers until the day after they dropped Bloombergs TV.

Looks like a bad sign. How many unhappy customers are walking away?

Best Stock market in years and Bloombergs offers the content that streams stock info on the bottom of your TV. Meanwhile Verizon offered to their customers that the reason they removed Bloombergs is that you can download an app and see the same exact content for free. BUT, there is no such app that runs the streaming data offered by Bloombergs. At $150 X 12 per subscriber X walk aways = ?

IMHO, This company does not appear to know how to run their Fios business. More big layoffs coming? Customers do not mean anything to the content people running Verizon.

Don't blame the PATELS..it is NOT their fault. They were given an opportunity and they are going to capitalize. If you want to blame anyone.. Blame LOWELL and STRATTON.... Walden is exiting, they don't want her to grow with the "good ole boys" club. This company has always been this way..

Let's see what happens..

I was part of the April 6th engineer layoffs. Was a dedicated System Performance Engineer for nearly 19 years and just given the ax at a moment's notice. Tampa Market, my name is Mike Velez. I was making 92,000 a year salary before bonus, and i guess it was my time to start my new career doing something much more fun anyway. It is what it is. I enjoyed working with my Team, Tom Giacomo, Juan Mejia, Toney Etches, Brad Finch, Mike Mossey, Dan, and Mark Bahn. The 7701 Telecom Office is a real dump though and what a nasty l, smelly old place. Carpet is from the 70s and the bathrooms constantly had piss and sh--, all over the place. I liked the gym there, and enjoyed the really long walks to the office from the overcrowded parking lots. Joe Webel is the director for Florida. Sandro Recine (Manager Orlando) was the absolute worst boss to work for and he micromanaged and gave us all a hard time most of the time. For the most part I had a good run at Verizon and it was a good memory. Now, I went to truck driving school and got my CDL class A license and i have all sorts of companies asking me to go work for them with good salary. No over the road either, I can be local and make 60 to 70k easy. I'm a great driver and enjoy being outside and love that I can go a anywhere and get a good job. !%$@ Verizon!!!!

Say what they will, but many of the people in the northeast and mid-atlantic are just as racist as any redneck in the deep south. It's just the ones in the NE & Mid-A have that sense of entitlement to go along with it. I remember the attitudes so well.

this is what happen especially in East when " PATEL" hiring "PATEL" only and pushing deserving and most qualified out, the whole company go down in the drain. No wonder so many lay offs & Verizon losing big in 3rd quarter while other competitors posting profit, Verizon should take this as opportunity to weed out all those family and friends of PATEL. LET'S MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN!!!!!

I was impacted on 11/16. Funny thing is I was also Rif'ed on 4/6 but I found a job internally and stayed for 6 months then was rif'ed again 11/16. It's got to be a record to be rif'ed twice in 6 months. lol Package back on the table and future uncertain. Believe me in that getting hit twice in a yr hurts worse than once. Best luck to all my wireline/wireless colleagues who were also impacted 11/16. Hoping that when 1 door closes a better one opens. On 4/6 I was 49 now I'm 50...

The refer-a-friend bit would only get into legal trouble if someone was hired into a position where someone was RIFd (by RIFing, the company is basically saying that there is no need for that position, so filling it is a no-no). Lots of positions are mentioned, I guess VZ legal has a way of differentiating them from positions that were RIFd

Ethically, well, that's different!

Since this is anonymous I will comment...but I also have plans to involve news media to see if there is anything illegal/shady about this activity. I just got my notice on 11/16 for my job being impacted with an end date of 12/29. The very next day an email came out about job referrals within Verizon, paying referring individuals up to $2500. This is appx my 25th round of layoffs I've been through...thankfully survived the others but not this one. Definitely wondering about the ethics and common practice of this process. Will look to involve the news media to investigate bc we are tired of being ripped apart year after year.

After 12 years as a contractor and 10 years as an employee, lost my position. They hired 2 contractors and 1 full time employee from offshore 6 mos ago, and who did they let go? It's a disgrace. My reviews were outstanding, I have several awards from my position there, and out you go. Wonderful company. This company rules by fear and has absolutely no care whatsoever about their employees.

VZ chopped off the whole IPTV group. Because they just don't to go with technology anymore or who knows if its something political. It happened after VZ top management changed. There are only 75 ppl left in the IPTV group out of appx 500+ to shutdown the Skelton and once done they will be gone as well. There are rumors about continuous lay offs until next for couple of more quarter.

16 in our area got hit! Our Union reps were slow to the race (as usually) to let anyone know. I doubt there will be any call backs but, I wish everyone luck in finding suitable future employment.

Verizon, 11/16 -- 16,000 layoffs. My brother was one of them. Whole departments decimated. Why the complete news blackout on this?

The people laid off were were productive engineers- not poor performers. Last on first to go. VZ a temporary employment agency, bottom line- Stock price $45.40 same 5 years ago, declining total market revenue, dividend that out paces cash flow is unsustainable. Sacrifice a few more pawns to save the rook.

Ours (Wireless, Network) were mostly poor performers and some volunteered to retire early and take the package.

I got RIF last month told 30 days paid then my package but I was to clean out my stuff at some point before my 30 days were up.

I went in when Jo one was there. Left my separation form signed, checked as Nd completed. Took all my stuff took a pic of my equipment sent to my ex-boss. Slide my destroyed Corp card, badge under the door of the IT sups office (sent him and email telling him) and walked out.

They said they wanted me to check out... Funny since I was the most senior leader in our office... To who... One of my subordinates??? Yeah... NO... Did it my way and left.

Sad to see it continue but I expected it. There's life after VZW everything happens for a reason, I choose to think positive! I'm finding some try hing that ma ki es me really really happy. I worked my a-- off... For this... Great way to treat loyal yard working employees. I was always had STELLAR reviews worked 55-70 hrs/week got the boot... Yeah I belong somewhere else.

Wireline/Wireless IT had two managers and at least 10 employees that I know of. Only one was a volunteer. It is political. Everyone that was chosen was on the ADs hit list. Coincidentally none are Indian.

Allow me to rephrase: I doubt we see any impact to any retail employees, TODAY. I'm sure something is going to happen, just not convinced that today is that day. Good luck to all.

I think anyone who thinks they are safe is naive, including retail. Cutting 10 Billion is much easier when you start cutting jobs. I believe lay offs are across all Verizon companies and departments.

Maybe they do it differently in different parts of the company, but when I got it in May this year, I had a month's notice before my last day. I continued to work, and was allowed to use work resources and time for my job search. So, it was not for me like I see described in some posts here where you get the notice and are immediately escorted out of the building. Again, maybe it is that way some places, but it was actually pretty gentle for me. I hated to leave and miss my former colleagues even now. The stress of working under those conditions is rough, knowing a couple times a year they'll come wielding the axe and hoping to dodge it. Good luck to all, and hang in there if your number comes up. I can personally attest that life can still be very good after VZ.

The company can't afford to have a disgruntled employee do something out of spite. Trust me, there are many who would do such a thing. This is how it is in nearly every company so don't feel too special.
