When I got Rif'd last year after being brought to the managers office at 8am he handed me a RIF packet and letter saying my services were no longer required. He followed me to my 4x6 corporate cube with a box and watched me gather my personal items and then followed me to the door. No time to gather any files off my computer as it was already taken out of the system by IT security. This, while all the other workers were watching. Very embarrassing but expected from that outfit.

And by all means don't leave any sensitive documents in your drawer. They will be found.

If you have personal items that you don't want to loose, I would suggest taking them home now. I was in the Oct 2015 RIFF and walked out the door (My performance reviews have ALWAYS been 'Leading'). Fortunately, I found something internal prior to end of year, but when I went back for my things, everything of value was gone. The two items that were left were in a trash bag in a storage room. Everything else had been "aquired".

45 day notice (11/16) with last day being 12/31. Rif's are never a surprise. They happen 2-3 times a year. There are many companies out there that have excellent pay and benefits. Have your resume ready regardless. With so many being cut regularly, it's no longer "low performance" employees necessarily. Those were gone quite a while ago. There are volunteers for the package too. All that being said, may as well take any personal things home. Once notified, you may not be able to get back in the building and someone else will be gathering your stuff in a box. You'll get to pick it up at the guard desk. Be smart and take care of yourself.

Confirmed 10% across all businesses. This will make 3 reductions within a year. After hearing about it, I spoke with my manager the next day. I'm hopeful!

It's funny how, managers are lied to by directors, directors are lied to by ex. Directors so we are in turn lied to. Yet some idiots blame the manager. Yup, the manager is being pissed on as much as we are.. stupid

Been way to quiet.

No urgencies for last 2 weeks.

Managers seem to be too busy, no return calls from any of them.

Something is already set and done.

Not too fair that just about a month ago at a group outing, directors say "all is good".

Dont say anything at all.

Last year's Layoff was on November 17th - They like to do it the Thursday before Thanksgiving every year.

I got laid off from Verizon last November - Still not working. Heard that Nov 16th is the date and they are targeting 10-15%. So much for being loyal employees. There is life after Verizon.

Verizon announced they will cut 10 Billion in opex in the next 4 years. That has to include salaries. The layoffs run through all their companies including the Telematics division. No one is safe. I mean the top execs need to bring in their millions why they continue to lay off employees. Gotta love the big corp world.

Yes it’s true about the rif, November 16 is the date given to me by my director. He said layoffs will be between 15 and 20% depends on which department. 30 engineers were already advised. He said we are too top-heavy and management. Some departments will be doing volunteers others will not. He told me to get my resume ready.

WARN notice for Colorado employees last summer:

The reports were true then and probably true for November.

Am a wireless network employee and looking forward to Nov 2 for myself but not for the impact to others. If on the same list as old Marni being asked to leave....will ask her how I can get her package including ......paid for "consulting" while laying on the beach. Wink wink.

Laid off turns out to be the best unwelcome news for some. And for those who don't have the skills to compete elsewhere or live in a dead zone of the country or just bought that boat or house they can't afford, bad bad news.

I don't know why people think it's funny to come on a site and joke about being laid off.

It takes a special kind of dip$hit to debase our already morale-free workforce.

To those joking about people's livelihoods, I sincerely hope karma doesn't come around to kick you in the nut$. D-bag.

Security reason is BS, you were valuable employees according to the executives and all of a sudden you cannot be trusted because they wanted to RIF.

Managers will not disclose the layoff ranked names in writing but they will tell you verbally if you are safe. So go ahead ask your managers the uncomfortable questions. You will also know where you stand on their list.

Anyone have a list of positions being reduced.

by

Post ID: @4nrb+PVuwlfa

For security reasons the managers will not tell you if you are on a list or not.

We were told the ranking list has been submitted so if your boss has not told you you are ok, then you are not. Go ask your manager a straight question: if you are on the layoff list because they already submitted it.

We also heard 11/16.

11/16 is confirmed, ignore the HR person who is sabotaging information sharing on this thread by posting useless comments like Thanksgiving below.

OK, the 11/16 RIF has been postponed to 11/23, Thanksgiving day. Notifications will be delivered by carrier pigeon. I am hearing the RIF will be big, anywhere from 85% to 90% of current workforce.

Make sure you start saving any files you may want from your computer to a external drive NOW. I had a lot of Attaboy emails that went bye bye once they deleted my account when I got shown the door in 2015. Once IT takes you out...you are out of luck.

In the past layoffs there was never any announcement, juts HR notified managers who notified employees. Only IT knew because they get a complete list of IDs to delete. So don't expect any announcements other than seeing your coworkers go bye bye on 11/16.

Retail sales was hit this year with several store closings. There will be plenty more soon enough.

I doubt they would touch retail until after black Friday and the holidays. Back office could go sooner.

WHEN will retail sales start getting laid off?? It’s ridiculous that they are “untouchables.”
