Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

Based on past layoffs, Who may qualify for severance packages if they are offered?Business Account Managers?

Does anyone know of a BAM that received a severance package? I know It's career suicide but I'm already actively looking for a new career anyway.I heard in the last round of layoffs standard severance offer was 2 weeks pay for every year of service plus you got to keep your insurance during for the same amount of weeks as your pay? Example 10 years service equals 20 weeks of pay and insurance? I'm sure the company would love to replace my salary with some Millennial so they could fit the Blow-90 target demographic.

17 years in CMB Wireline as a Support Manager, was RIF'd last Thursday. The ever changing younger and younger leadership, offshore customer experience agents handling the bulk of inbound CN volume, and steady influx of migrating Wireless middle managers and analysts into traditionally Wireline roles have really had HUGE negative impacts on employee morale, number of customer complaints and a growing number of ex-VZ middle-aged, but no longer appreciated professionals. I've never felt more excited in my life to walk away from a company that cares so little about what most companies consider their most valuable resource: highly experienced and skilled leaadership. Long gone are the days where #EmployeesMatter and company pride and loyalty exists. Reflecting back on the policies and practices employed by VZ over the last 7-8 years makes my stomach churn. #intherearviewmirror

No, it's still two weeks for every year of service.

Yea if they are unloaded to AR those impacted on the direct side will get a severance. Crazy times. But in the end we can worry about things that we can't control.

For all those saying we are the degenerates of the company and the lazy no good for nothings, I feel more sorry for you. We have no ill will against those who are union. The hate around here is disgusting. I'm glad my life is not effected by such comments regardless of the outcome. Good luck to everyone. I truly mean that.

Thanks. The wording seems like if a store gets converted to an AR, and a former Verizon employee ends up working for that AR, they don't get severance.

Hopefully that's not the case. If Verizon wants to unload stores transferring them to AR's makes the most sense since there are lease commitments.

So I know about the severance from experience (I was not effected but a store I had friends at was). If the store is "closed", meaning closed completely or given to an authorized agent, you still get a severance. You usually have 45-60 days to reapply within the company and get a position. During the ES/OS Riff in November they even paid relo packages for those who were willing. I believe if you decide to work for the authorized agent you forego your severance but that part I'm not 100% on. I'll get clarification. It may not be the same now but that's just from past experiences of less than 6 months ago.

Yep, Verizon doesn't want a bunch of old farts ruining their "hip" Google-like company image. (I am over 50 and got riffed along with a lot of over 40/50 folks). Verizon is definitely going for a younger image.

Can anyone clarify this part of the severance agreement pulled from VZ Web? It sounds like if a store lease is transferred to an authorized retailer, no severance is offered:

– with an entity that enters into a transaction with Verizon (for example, a purchase of stock or assets, a contribution to a joint venture; a spin-off, reorganization or similar transaction; or a contract to outsource a function previously performed in house, but excluding the transfer of a leasehold or a sublease of a leasehold undertaken in connection with the closing of a Verizon Wireless store);

You have the be laid off or fired to receive severance.

But yeah it's two weeks for every year.

I am no longer with Verizon so I can't check, but I though I saw on VZ Web the servance requirements were modified where it states if a company owned store becomes an authorized retailers, and those impacted employees are offered a position by the authorized retailer, then that disqualifies them from serverance.

I thought I saw this AR clause before I left but someone still with VZ should verify. It's buried in one of the paragraphs.

If your impacted on the wireless side all positions receive a severance. Even the ES/OS in retail received them last time. 2 weeks of pay per year with the company with a max of 35wks pay. You also get your Vacation time as well as any tuition assistance if you are enrolled in classes at the time.
