Every now and then some idiot will chime in here about how all of the legacy DIRECTV folks out in LA will be required to move to Dallas in a year or so, or be eliminated. It's clearly bullspit from a troll, and now I have some proof.
I recently spoke to someone involved in determining office locations and the gist of the conversation was:
-
The lease on the office buildings in El Segundo has just been extended (not something AT&T would do if they plan on evacuating the location)
-
There are plans to relocate a significant number of Southern California employees to El Segundo within the next year
-
AT&T plans on making El Segundo their West Coast HQ, much like Atlanta is on the East Coast.
-
With the pending acquisition of TWC, having a permanent location in LA makes a lot of sense.
Hopefully this finally puts all those stupid LA is closing posts.
