Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Was with the OP up until this craptastic part, which is essentially an ignorant "kids these days" blanket statement, blind to the crushing reality that many millennial face:

I see AT&T has the same problems as CIsco or IBM. Same inter-generational crap going on there, as the CEOs cut all the experience people.

These CEOs fly around to each others' golf clubs and dinner parties and share the same ruthless techniques of ruining their workers' lives.

And what's the result? The employees back-biting each other.

If my good karma had any impact on my job, I'd be a VP by now. ;) Sadly, good karma points, and I have lots, have no impact when you get surplussed. Frankly, I've come to the sad conclusion that politics matter more than work ethic, performance, or history. Example, the VP has a director who is a friend. Simple detective work shows no one in his friend's organizations got tagged for surplus. Interesting, isn't it.

Randall, Stankey, Donovan, Smith, de la vega are well inside or near the baby boomer generation. One is probably closer to the "greatest generation"... so what do we do with these problematic people who won't retire??

Here we go.. trolls are waking up early. Look I'm in my late 30s and this "us against them" is bullshyt. I had a Director (also late 30s) tell us "blame the folks who won't retire on the surplus. Low attrition is not the problem.

We aren't creating anything revolutionary to sell. Nothing meaningful and new is being made. Google/FB and definitely space X all have tenured ph.d's and seasoned advisors who contribute to products at an expansive level.

All this turning people against each other is a culture sickness and a serious disorder.

8 billion dollars was paid to T-Mobile because we didn't close a deal. That sort of contract term as unprecedented and Randall's idea. How many jobs could be created/revamped/saved with 8 billion.

We have idea and product creation problem. Not a "why won't you retire" problem.

I'm tired of the baby boomers who won't quit and move out of the way. Boomers are the laziest, most entitled people and now that they're finally being kicked out, they all rybabiut "agism."

I agree with op, karma does dictate at the end of the day too. There's a price you must pay for acting out in the way that's being seen on the other threads. Those sorts people can't possibly be easy to work for/with. There's bad actors everywhere in corporate America, but these sorts of ideas and ways of being can permeate like a cancer on the culture. They are desperate to keep their jobs and continue to do nothing or very little, I've been there 35 years and can work circles around them, they laugh, cut up all day, loud, do things we would have never done at at work, they continue to hire people that think they are owed a living and they will ruin this company, I am at the end of my career, thank God.
