5dbo "ATT is moving away from any association with wireline and will be a content company delivering ALL via wireless services. Cell service included."

You mean everything is going wireless INCLUDING cell service. (face palm). I think wireless might include and be mutually inclusive of the technology called cell service.

There is this thing called the internet and from what I can tell it just might take off, and might need some serious bandwidth.

Please tell us that you do not in any way control any budget decisions, and you have in no way any influence over any team or try to offer any type of guidance on processes. Your statement makes me think you are one on the clueless clowns in the town hall meetings asking " So, what is this thing you are calling spectrum?"

Read the post below this one and learn.

Keep blaming the older worker and when you get hit who will you blame now.

workers under 30 are all not fools and know the older worker has a lot to show them and most rely on them.

A few useless losers blame the older worker.

If anyone thinks ATT will dump older workers in favor of the younger worker being more prepared they are jerks. ATT wants new workers because they make less and the older workers cost them more.

Yes the older worker has more knowledge and ability but the company does not care. The entire point of the "pivot" training is to dump people legally. when you don't make the required training your on the list regardless of what your told. Does anyone think the 3rd or 4th levels will jeopardize their jobs to save you?

Fool if you do.

ATT is moving away from any association with wireline and will be a content company delivering ALL via wireless services. Cell service included.

As for the need to have call centers, again wake up. why do you think they are pushing "globalization" ? For you to keep working. Again wake up. ATT is not going to need the amount of centers in the USA. India will be the lead location where the salary is one tenth of anyone in the US.

consolidation of work centers including wireline garages is in progress and no one notices.

DTV was another joke. Wireline groups thought they would pick up the work. Sure ATT will pay 4 time the cost to install service that are not performed by contractors. Did any notice the DTV call centers being closed? NOPE.

Look around, Verizon dumped many states for wire and video service. Florida, Texas, Nevada an California.

Hint, ATT is/was not the dominate carrier in Texas Verizon was and they dumped the state.

Have fun blaming the older workers,

A message to the " clown" that wants names and company UID's of people commenting on this blog, "this is an anonymous blog site", and there Is a reason why it is done this way, "retaliation", is just the beginning, AT&T is not the type of company that will encouraged you to raise your hand when you see bad behavior, we all known that incompetence reigns all around us, specially with the Quality management we have.

WITH THIS BEEN SAID YOU ARE EITHER A COMPANY TROLL, or you are really dumb to understand the difference.

I hope this helps!

I find all of this locker room talk rather pointless when you post without your name or userid! If anyone wants to stand behind the post they submit then post with some value, and respect for yourself and others by doing so with a name!

Poor 20 something, doesn't realize they can age, or become ill, or realize no one's job is secure. I recall the time the younger kids made fun of my old car. They never lived in a period of economic downturn, they were naive. Then the tech bust hit, and when the entire company goes under, everyone becomes unemployed. The difference is I had a lot less debt, and I was able to ride out the 1 year with out a job. I wasn't the one taking a loss on my new car or losing my over leveraged house. I still had my old car when I found another job. Still have the old thing today. I haven't always been with AT&T either. I am however, disappointed that WF2020 is a joke when it comes to getting surplussed. So self re-invention is irrelevant when the company wants to chop heads.

Yummy Milk, tastes so good when the cow is AT&T - Drink it up for as long as possible is my advice for the youngsters, or are the young just lactose intolerant. Take them for all the milk they have, companies will dump you quickly. If AT&T had not screwed over the 30 plus over pension and benfits, there would be a rush to the door. How about a decent buyout and the placec would be empty

Lots of officers are big lovers of the AT&T milk, been around for a long time. Should they go too? FYI - CEO and chairman started in 1982, 30 plus years also, maybe......

They expect their 1st job to be at top pay with no past work history...I don't care how tech savy you are.... take away your smart phone and laptop and your dead in the water....and btw read the book on the Greatest Generation its not yours!!!!

Just the younger generation that wants everything handed to them.

Sh--. If anyone had things handed to them it was the baby boomers and older. It's not the younger generations fault if you were one of the few that mismanaged your money and didn't prepare for retirement. Get out of the workforce there's someone younger and more technologically savvy waiting to take your place. Don't kid yourself. You're not irreplaceable.

So because I made something of myself at the early age of 22 I should retire have to retire at 52? I don't care how well you "prepare" in this day and age, it's not possible to retire at 52. I'd LOVE TO! Imagine, actually enjoying retirement and life while young enough to still enjoy it....but nope, not gonna happen.

Experienced employees bring so much value to the organization. It's sad to see how ignorant people are on this forum to those who've made a career working at AT&T.

Young and less experienced should go first.

Respect for work and the people who do it are part of a modern, civil society.

We do not live in a jungle, we are a society of people with families, neighbors and co-workers. Human beings are important, the corporation is an artificial construct with no soul or conscience.

The sniping and attacks on long time employees is juvenile and shallow. Be clear, the corporation will put you out the door as soon as it is done with you. There is no such thing as corporate loyalty even though it wants us to be loyal to it.

To the OP and to all that think someone with 30 years of service should voluntarily quit. Most folks that have that kind of time started at AT&T at a young age. Say they started with the company at 25 years old and you are telling them at that age of 55 they should retire just because they have 30 years of service. Why shouldn't they continue to work until they can obtain their 401K (no tax penalty) Social Security as well as Medicare.

I mean would you want to live on $1,000 per month from your pension ( and that is on the high side) and deplete your savings until you could take your 401K at 59 1/2 and/or social security at 62-67.

I mean seriously!! You would have. To have a pretty hefty savings account and/or annuities purchased to live off of if you are not of age to also obtain SS and 401k together.

When in one's tenure, exactly, does "productive employment" stop and "the milking" start?

When you contribute care produce and perform then your handler, er supervisor or its crony takes all the credit and also denigrates your efforts and belittles your capabilities It becomes a self fulfilling assessment

T is very expert at cultivating mediocrity from excellence and from indifference

I wouldn't be surprised if this was a young(ish) manager/Director out of a college MBA hire program. The undergrad program is actually solid. It's the MBA grads that come in making 85k wishing they could get the Harvard 150k. And they're angry and thinks it's the lack of attrition that's the reason they aren't making what they think they should be.

Another case of stupid infighting and lack of big picture thinking.

Well maybe if all these young kids would quite voting on worthless CWA contracts for a promise of a 1000.00 bonus payout for doing so you would be making more money. So stop complaining you did this to yourself and the rest of us.

These 30 year employees may not be as productive as the younger employees, but they sure are a wealth of knowledge. That has value. I have been a technician for 17 years now, and I would have been utterly lost when I first started without their assistance and guidance. They are all retired now and I remember them with fondness. And as far as "milking", I see it on a daily basis and years of service has nothing to do with it.
