The Union plan is to buy more cardboard and string, and make the pathetic picket monkey's walk around in circles to the boss's amusement. Such absurd tactics... but I guess that's what your union dues buy... crappy leadership. What a dismal bunch of losers that VZ is getting rid of.

I'm laughing in the face of everyone posting in this thread. The company had a plan? Well that plan blew up in their face just like everything this idiot CEO has done since he's here. Good luck with the EWA and bottom of the barrel scabs. As for me I'm enjoying a paid summer off!

The Union never thought the company would force their hand. If the Union wanted to catch the company off guard they should have walked on March 1st when the companies only focus was Frontier. Once the company was done with the Frontier cut over then they focused on the Union. The Union leadership got played like a piano. This strike might last a year is the Union ready to be out that long? The company will go the distance to get what they want ....they want to sell this all off anyway.

Gotta love these pathetic current and former managers on here- so angry and secretly envious someone at least took a stand against how f'd up we all know this company is instead of cowering in a cubicle for fighting for a spot under the bosses desk. It's so obvious- just post after post-blah, blah, blah-, chances are if you haven't grown a spine by now, you probably never will. And you'll die never having at least fought for something you believe in- just keeping your head down afraid every day of being RIF'd or saying the wrong thing and getting canned.

Yes, truly a brilliant plan- 4 weeks into beating IT people and secretaries into jobs they have no clue how to do 15 hours a day and punishing customers, then put an ad in local papers as well as invite out of state scabs to work unsafely and do sub-par work ( which from my experience we will be cleaning up on forced overtime upon return)- this is what the $1.5 billion a month corporation came up with?, pure brilliance.

the pension doesn't come from the union it comes from the company.

Everyday the replacements grow in knowledge and numbers. You can place the blame of the strike squarely on the Supreme dragon union leaders. You know, the ones still getting paid and have huge vaults of cash....... The 400 million union fund is not there to help you it is actually the pensions of the senior members.. Very simple math shows if they use it it will be gone in 8 days. However, If they drain all the retirement pension to save your assnow and it fails,,,,,, then every union member will have a ZERO balance in there pension. Wake up and look at your self in the mirror. Its not 1955 anymore.

The question is a valid one. The Union members have stated repeatedly what they are fighting for and why, but what is the long term plan. If you are locked out or on May 20th considered abandoned position then what happens to the strike. It becomes moot and no longer relevant, right?

Verizon has been planning since last summer? Yeah right that's why they are scrambling are trying to hire anyone breathing while working the EWA force to death.

You are right kbp neither the public nor the stockholders Verizon for this failure. Everyone blames the union.

If this is what Verizon spent millions of dollars on planning and training for, Once again they blew it, Verizon FIOS will never recover from this disaster, and maybe that's the long term plan. But as far as this "plan" is concerned, it's a complete failure, and everyone from Executives,to the lowly EWA staff, and even Union Members know this is an epic failure. I think at this point if your Verizon, is how do you save face and retreat.

Based on their actions so far, I would have to say that the unions plan is the destruction of those workers that they were paid to represent. It's looking more to me like the union leaders have been in the company's pocket all along.

The long-range plan is already going into effect. Verizon is bringing in the replacements. Even if they came back today, not everyone would have a seat. The least senior are already out of a job. No unemployment. They weren't fired. They were replaced.
