What don't you get? I must be talking to an idiot. We provide a service, just like you, and we get paid. We are paid according to the contract signed by the union and the company. The problem is that upper management is deciding that the same job I have done for 20 years is not worth what it was yesterday. Well that is bullshit! I do the same kind of work everyday, just like the last 20 years. I don't care if you say that wireline is dying because it's bullshit. If it was dying why do I always have an abundance of work? The only difference now is that there is more work now than the current workforce can handle. So spare me with the bullshit about dying wireline. Until my workload decreases I expect to get paid tat least the same amount as yesterday and not be FORCED to work more or travel 80 extra miles because this company is being mismanaged. Understand now?

Do you like the fact that this company can afford a pension for all, but only a select few get it? How about paying for your health care? No job security? No backbone? If you said no then way are you still here? Without that backbone you have no fight in you, so enjoy getting what they want you to have.

hmmm..only 7% of the population belongs to a union....why does that 7% think they deserve job security, higher pay, more time off, cheaper benefits, etc.....seems to me,the other 93% of the population are the ones making the rules nowadays...union workers, it's time for you to live in the 21st century....get more training and certifications...further your education....work hard and smart, don't expect handouts. we all need to work for what we have.

I've never worked in a union. My mom did. I find your courage admirable but not the comfort or the fight of entitlement. Verizon rewarded you for loyalty for countless years, to do the same thing and get paid more for doing the same thing. They stunted some of your growth. Everyone got greedy.

Yes fairpoint workers got screwed. That's not the point. They showed solidarity. Verizon is no fairpoint however. Not in bankruptcy. Not locked into the New England states with its rural plant

Fairpoint did get screwed, though a valiant effort staying out 4 months in the cold, losing medical benefits, less than a handful of members crossed the line. BUT when they came back, the UNION told them all about the good things in the contract but not about the NO JOB SECURITY clause in contract. DO NOT go back to work without the job security or all the compensation you receive means nothing when they lay you off... After the Fairpoint strike, 4 months on the line Fairpoint laid off 10% of its work force. All those poor guys that went through 4 months of sh-- to just get laid off afterward...

Fair point workers got screwed after being out 4 months in the winter. This strike is not going to be settled without mediation. Negotiating hasn't worked since last june. We are on strike, but the union brothers and sisters I am speaking with are not happy about it and are getting really pissed. We are all senior over 27 years and just want to get back. The sooner the better. .
