Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

EWA's thank you for doing such a horrible job without you we would still be without a contract but it's not your fault it's the morons that run

this company now i'm not saying what we do is rocket science but thinking they could train you guys and girls for a couple of weeks and you would be able to perform the job efficiently as we all know this plan was an epic fail we know this from local managers who told us about conference calls where Beasley was screaming and whining asking why is only 37% of work getting done and 75% of that work coming back out the very next day and it also turns out some EWA'S were calling out sick too probably from the abuse from certain managers lol so on behalf of my fellow brothers and sisters WE THANK YOU i truly hope verizon will start treating you like human beings and not like a pawn who can just be plucked away from your family at any given moment

I doubt you were told this was part of your job when you first started working for the company and i've heard from many EWA'S they were told if they didn't report they could be fired

This is no way to treat an employee union or non-union

Electricians???? Hahahhaahaha

Are you kidding me. EVERY phone tech has an "electrician" screw up story times a thousand.

I remember when those guy would run cheap wiring, like something you need for boiler controls. All sorts of colors , stranded and then blame the telco when the customer got crosstalk and couldn't connect higher then 14k on dialup

Yes electricians should stick to electricity.

"The op says it all. Had Verizon hired electricians we never would have gone back. "

Can we please stop with this nonsense? Pretty please.

Electricians could very well run cabling according to the local code. That's it.

Pick a good, low-stress, clean copper pair? No.

Splice a wet, failed, 900-pr cable? Dream on.

Run proper patterns on a T-1 in order to pinpoint where the problem exactly is? Not in this life.

Troubleshoot random pixelation on several channels in the customer's prem? Good luck.

While these people may be very proficient in quite a few things, our jobs are not one of them, and the opposite holds true as well.

The op says it all. Had Verizon hired electricians we never would have gone back. But Lowell in his infinate wisdom showed he is definately not the $18 million man by butchering everything and attempted to replace craft with southern redneck trailer trash drunken hillbillies who listen to tractor rap like luke bryan and spit tobacco into the streets. God bless mcadam, he is such a rich fool.

Don't know about other garages, but we are doing same day FiOS installs and getting to fios and copper repairs early. For 6 weeks experience including training, we're knocking it out of the park. If this has gone longer, we would have only gotten better. Glad you guys are going back to your job so I can get back to mine, but it you think it's because we couldn't do this, you're clueless. Don't kid yourself. You're a trained experienced tech because you were trained here and gained experience here. We didn't show up 6 weeks ago able to do much.... But we worked a whole lot of in this time. It's not rocket science.

Ongoing problems with copper landline

Options

For the past month, we have been having ongoing problems with our copper landline, which has required three service calls/visits and the problem has still not been resolved. When people call our landline, they get a busy signal most times, and when we do hear our phone ring, it is usually only a few short chirps and then silence or dead air. What could be the problem and why hasn't it been fixed after multiple service visits by technicians?

3 Missed Installs

Options

I signed up for Fios Internet in March. Due to the strike, 3 install dates have come and gone with nobody showing up. Only once was I contracted by customer service to notify that the installation technician could not make it. The other two times...I heard nothing. I understand these problems are because of the strike, but I am on the verge of just forgetting about Fios alltogether unless I can get some reassurance that this situatuion will be resolved to my satisifaction.

When they sent EWAs to pole climbing, it was clear upper management did not know what the job intailed. I haven't used hooks in over ten years, I believe a manager died during the pole climbing training.

I have been waiting for close to a month now. Three installation dates have come and gone. Not once did anyone contact me to let me know they wouldn't make it. Each time, I have had to contact Verizon only to be informed that the schedule would have to be rescheduled. I understand that there is a strike going on, but don't schedule services if you can't follow through. Or at least contact your customer to follow up! Have yet another installation scheduled. I have requested that I be the first appointment since the excuse each time was that the tech got stuck at a previous job, but was only told that it has been requested...not that I will be first. I am not very confident that Verizon will be my service provider.

When we joined the company, we were never told that the craft employees were such morons.

OP could you possibly be any more passive aggressive. I think for one weeks training and 5 weeks OJT I did a pretty fantastic job. I am sure in the infancy of your job you accomplished the same thing.
