Thread regarding Verizon Communications Inc. layoffs

13 straight days 1 off for EWA?..

Can we also acknowledge how royally screwed management employees are getting as well? Most are just middle class people who have no say in any of this. You have guys with three days training getting sent out to the Bronx and having to drive over an hour per day with no time to see family. And Verizon has the nerve to limit hotel stay unless you're location is 50 miles at least or 1.5 hrs long? I thought they preach a great work environment? So your solution for all of this is to have your employees do the dirty work as you give a rats assabout while the Executives sit up top making the plays.

Overtime pay is nice but 13 days on 1 day off treating your employees like puppets is disgusting.

Your leadership doesn't give a crap about your EWA or what you think about it. You were randomly chosen so just do it.

OP, now you can appreciate what the union has been going through. Try going 6 weeks with 0 days off. And contrary to some opinions on this board, it is not spent sleeping. I once almost fell asleep behind the wheel in week 6. But that's about it.

You think it's bad now. When your EWA assignment is over, you will get laid off. That's the Verizon way: burn em out and dump them like trash...

When did 50 billion a year become unprofitable?

Ethernet,iOT,IPTV wireline cash cows!

All wireless capex is written into wireline accounting to make it look like wireless is more profitable.

It's more like management can't properly administer funds, employees or plant and here we are.

If your skills are so great you go find a six figure job with the benefits we have.

The executives have even better so why can't you join that rank with you "skills"

If you are going to the Bronx. Oh my god. There are plenty of places where they will never find you again. Who did you piss off?

also Mr. Po0pypants, I hate to bring this up, since I am not an anal-retentive conservative, but you just used the wrong version of "you're" right after correcting me!

You should have said YOUR blue collar skills no? But I am sure it was just a mistake and not really worthy of extended discussion, so I am going to let it slide.

If they cant pay the wireline people more money because that segment of company is dying. And the wireless is so profitable then how come they dont pay wireless people alot more money. If the non profitable segment deserves less money then by golly the profitable side should be rolling in it. !!!!!!!!!! Or do they just not want to pay anybody and just keep it for a few chosen ones

Cjk what is a 40k(k) is that something like a 401k. Instead of complaining cuz the union has it better then the rest of the company take that energy and direct it towards becoming union so then you and the rest of the company will have it as good as the union. Would you rather have it as good as the union or would you be happier if the union had it as bad as you ????

It's "you're", not "your" (as in "you're missing Hannity"). I hope you're blue collar skills are better than your spelling skills.

I really don't understand what the union people want. They already get better retirement and medical benefits than the 2/3 of the company that aren't unionized. Union employees get retirement AND 40k(k) yet that's not good enough? Really?

And how dare the company ask union employees to chip in on the medical coverage LIKE THE REST OF THE COMPANY HAS TO. In fact, the entire industry as a whole asks employees to chip in for medical, yet the union employees apparently think they are better than everyone else and deserve special treatment.

The only thing a strike will do is cause the already razor-thin margins on wireline products to have even more pressure on them which will result in more job cuts. The strike will only speed up the inevitable, which is the wireline services becoming obsolete and the company ditching that business in favor of higher margin wireless service (that doesn't have an unreasonable union employee roster causing needlessly high bottom line costs).

The union people clearly aren't smart enough to realize that in the long run this strike only hurts themselves. And the general public doesn't feel sorry for the union employees because the unions already get better pay and benefits than 99% of the population yet it's never enough. All unions do is allow bad/lazy employees to get ahead and hold the really good employees back.

Just simply believe I can make a choice of what I do and were I work. I have an education, I continue to gain skills, continue to grow my knowledge. Generally picking knowledge and skills that the market is demanding and that makes me a good candidate for jobs at multiple companies.
