Having troubleshot electronics, installed and maintained computer systems, and laser digital printing systems for 35 years prior to finishing my working career with 5 years service at Verizon in the FSC, I wish all you with EWA assignments best of luck in the field. I was a participant in corporate downsizing twice through the decades and was lucky enough to be hired by Verizon. My past experience made my job of helping Customers in the home much easier. With that said......No quick training course in a classroom can prepare you for what you are about to experience. You will be facing irate customers who don't know the difference between an AC power cord and a toothbrush, all the while screaming in your face to fix it, fix it! I can only imagine the filth and garbage you will be crawling through to troubleshoot wiring and splitter issues for pixilation and channel unavailable issues. Just think today your hands will be striking a keyboard and tomorrow you will be working above ground within a few feet of very high AC voltage or below ground in a manhole with an abundance of vermin droppings. In the old days techs became managers so they understood the work, however that is not the case today. Sad to report that most of the managers could not put on a headset and troubleshoot a FIOS problem. Legacy equipment troubles are one thing but throw in Quantum VMS-client issues........well best of luck! There will be no IHD to take irate calls and desk jockeys will have to know which end of a screwdriver to turn. Just thought I would mention a few things to "consider" I will remain a FIOS customer, so my challenge to you......keep this network up and running!!!!
