Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

After Labor Day Lunch

Since my husband was grilling for Labor Day, I decided to make lunch for tomorrow’s picket line. He usually doesn’t take time to eat a decent lunch while working. It’s due to his work load that must be completed daily before he can come home so he eats on the run.

Menu:

Slow cooked pinto beans with bacon, a little onion and a couple of other secret ingredients. 😋 Made plenty of skillet cornbread to go with it. Dessert is homemade chocolate chip cookies. 🍪 Hope everyone enjoys it as much as we do. Stay strong out there, your families are behind you!

In the Southeast, they’re eating the dogs. The people that strike, they’re eating the cats. They’re eating — they’re eating the pets of the people that live there.

Next week, you’re going to be using mulch and grass clippings to start that grill.

“While you're eating beans for lunch, I'm getting my meals paid for everyday. I even order dessert.”

That’s the least Stankey should do for you, 12 hrs and only paid salary, have to be hating it. I know we hate it when forced, have empathy for y’all. Those seasoned pinto beans and skillet cornbread with cookies sound mighty good to me, not hurting our feelings a bit.

If you read the OP, she stated he usually doesn’t take the time eat a decent lunch…so he eats on the run. She didn’t say, no lunch. I understand, when dealing with appts scheduled, weather (heat cold/rain/ice) and a large work load, a lot of times I eat a quick lunch and keep working then if I’m caught up near the end of the shift, take some down time before driving in for the end of day. CP don’t have the pressure to clear a full load, like the techs. Their’s is a handpicked without installs for most.

When one is hot and sweaty, you don’t feel like eating a full meal at lunch. Many times a pack of peanut butter cr--kers and fruit like cold watermelon for potassium and hydration, off I go. Work/life balance is something we asked them to bargain for, tired of forced OT till late hours repeatedly. The CP should have had a small taste these past two weeks, try years of it like us.

Ok I like the wife supporting her husband and I understand union employees wanting better benefits, but saying he usually doesn’t each lunch is cr-p. Every union worker has designated time for lunch, so if he doesn’t eat that is his own fault. I was union and quickly learned that not eating lunch will do nothing to shorten the load.

Yeah, that whole banding together and voicing demands doesn't seem to be working quite as well or as quickly as the union thought, is it?

“ It's posted here specifically to antagonize the management people who are stuck in the middle of the pi----g contest getting pi---d on by both sides.”

You appear very frustrated, we get it. No one is forcing you (or are they?) to read this thread, you saw the topic before you clicked. We aren’t the ones who are forcing you to work CP. Like others have posted. If you want change then y’all need to stick together and voice your grievance to your superior or as Stankey says, quit.

The only reason you or anyone comes on this layoff board and drops picket line menu is for one reason and one reason only, to gaslight AT&T management employees. Don’t pretend to be an innocent and ignorant bystander to this strike nonsense. You won’t think it’s some much fun 8 weeks from now Karen.

All these negative posts sound like that 1a that argued with me last week. Called himself an L3 technical staff member. He’s super hateful and lacks any intelligence on his comebacks if he posts any.

Kudos to you for supporting your husband. The food sounds great

"temporary layoff "

Self-imposed makes it not a layoff. Could have continued working while negotiations continued, but a majority voted to walk out. Layoffs are something the company does to you, not something the union membership chose to do.

There are no pictures on this site, so no one is posting cholesterol competition pics. Go do your strike unity posts on your facebook pages or twitter, or whatever. "Enjoy a cookout," my a-s. It's posted here specifically to antagonize the management people who are stuck in the middle of the pi----g contest getting pi---d on by both sides.

“ No
One
Cares”

You do care because you responded, the lunch post is for those who respond and enjoy a cook out during a ULP layoff. Yes the company HR team has knowingly used stalling and pushed regressive proposals they know wouldn’t be accepted and reneged on others. The also called a group of technicians, second class.

“ the strike and what every one who keeps posting their dietary habits has nothing to do with actual layoffs”

I disagree, a ULP strike is a temporary layoff which according to the union bargaining team has been caused by the company bargaining in bad faith and using stalling tactics.

The posting of lunches is for unity and encouraging others during these challenging negotiations. Gives one something to look forward to while waiting to go back to work. Others just enjoy grilling and posting their pictures as a competition between strike locations.

" vitriol from company sympathizers on here."

To be fair, I don't see any company sympathizers. First rude dude to respond was talking about picket shifts. Also to be fair, the strike and what every one who keeps posting their dietary habits has nothing to do with actual layoffs; the menu posts have been specifically made to troll managers who are having to work CP assignments.

"Beans and bread? is he British?"

Say you've never been out of your neighborhood without saying "you've never been out of your neighborhood". The British eat beans and toast, and it is not pinto beans, but baked beans, often right out of the can.

OP here, oh my! I now see what my husband has been talking about lately when he says the company has changed and management became toxic. He usually doesn’t say anything to me but I can see the vitriol from company sympathizers on here.

Get attacked for trying to do something kind, like making lunch. Sheesh!🙄

"pinto beans and cornbread is a staple in the south and west."

Not as a main dish. Only if it's like red beans and rice or hoppin' john. And then it usually is served with sausage, not jsut some bacon to taste.
