@OP You can usually tell the direction a company is going by where it is currently investing it's money.
Failed wireless AI customer service.
Failed wireless app development.
Failed wireless automation (although it isn't promised until Nov).
Failed wireless inventory management system.
Most wireless stores closed or franchised.
Layoffs in wireless that cut the cost of paying the employees at the bottom while protecting leadership so they can transition to other non wireless departments and continue to spread a wealth of knowledge and experience in AI customer service, app development, automation and inventory management.
Billions of dollars invested in partnerships that appear to be all fiber and AI related:
Transitioning legacy offices into data centers.
Getting dark fiber "all lit up again"
Expanding AI training as a free public service to offset the 25% unemployment Dan predicted AI would cause in an interview with the WSJ in April. And the PR doesn't hurt, amiright? (Bernie is still not happy about it)
Corning Supply Agreement: In September 2026, Verizon and Corning announced a multi-year, multi-billion dollar agreement. Corning will supply 80+ million miles of high-density optical fiber to help Verizon expand broadband and build out the connectivity backbone required for the AI economy.
Google Dark Fiber Deal: In July 2026, Verizon signed a deal with Google valued at more than $1 billion. Under this partnership, Google is utilizing Verizon's dark fiber network to connect its AI data centers.
BT Group Joint Venture: In June 2026, Verizon and BT Group agreed to combine their international enterprise operations into a 50:50 joint venture. The combined platform represents approximately $4 billion in annual revenue.
Bain & Tillman Investment: Backing Verizon's infrastructure, Bain Capital and Tillman Global Holdings injected $1.5 billion into Eaton Fiber, a key network operator providing fiber capacity explicitly to accelerate Verizon's broadband rollout.
Frontier Acquisition Completion: Though initially announced earlier, Verizon finalized its massive $20 billion acquisition of Frontier Communications in January 2026, significantly augmenting its nationwide fiber footprint.
And someone in accounting ordered a Keurig for the break room but it might get sent back since, after ten meetings, it still wasn't fully approved because one of fifteen ADs didn't sign off on it.
I am sure wireless will be around for years to come.
Hey 👏 Are any of the board members affiliated with the other partners? I wonder...
