Thread regarding Comcast layoffs

If you turned 55 in 2026 or will turn 55 in 2027, learn and understand the IRS Rule of 55. Not a Comcast or Fidelity rule, it is an IRS provision that allows you to access your most recent 401(k) (presumably Comcast) if you quit, get laid off, etc in the year you turn 55 (not your birthday). It can provide a penalty free (not tax free) bridge to 59 1/2. Just keep those funds in the 401(k). Do not move to an IRA. Not for everyone obviously, but some might not be aware.

The bigot comments simply demonstrate what has driven the company into a hole: bias, bigots, classism, cronyism advocacy, and projected depression masked by title (or here, anonymity). @a3 use up all floating holidays and flex days, those are available on January 1 and the anniversary of your hiring date, respectively. No, the company is not going to “claw back” those paid time-off days. I was let go a month after my anniversary date and took all eight flex days immediately.

Even though what you said is not politically correct, I agree with you! I know so many people that did this and they were magically protected from layoffs because of DEI, internal metrics, and all the legal loopholes.

Approach HR with your imminent plans to come out as trans. That should maximize your chances of going on the protected staff list.

if you use all your floating holidays before the end of the year, does a pro-rated amount of money get deduced from your last check? same with flex days and your anniversary.
