Tips /Trips / Advice to maximize your benefits before the Comcast hammer

Hey, Comcasters! Let's help each other out. List your best tips, tricks, or advice for on what to do to maximize Comcast benefits before being laid off.

  • For example, Flex Days and Floating Holidays are not paid out, but vacation days are. So, use your Floating Holidays first, then your Flex Days, and save your vacation days for last.

  • Also, take advantage of your EdAssist educational benefit, which provides up to $8,000. According to the PDF, you become ineligible on the day you are notified of your layoff, so be sure to submit your request before you receive notice.

Get healthy. Make that doctor/dentist/eye doctor appointment you’ve been putting off.

You’ll, don’t fall for the rage bait. It’s likely a toxic leader finally being themselves behind a veil. The bigot comments simply demonstrate what has driven the company into a hole: bias, bigots, classism, cronyism advocacy, and projected depression masked by title (or here, anonymity). It’s the classic: we have a common enemy but to split that, they must divide those against each other to distract from the problems they actually cause us all. Do we not see this now in the world? We have a common enemy that has turned us against each other to distract us from turning on them. Strength in numbers? Subtract by dividing.

@a3 use up all floating holidays and flex days, those are available on January 1 and the anniversary of your hiring date, respectively. No, the company is not going to “claw back” those paid time-off days. I was let go a month after my anniversary date and took all eight flex days immediately.

Ya'll are a bunch of bigoted a--holes. No one is safe from the layoffs just because of their identity. Honestly you bigots probably deserve to be fired.

@a8

Even though what you said is not politically correct, I agree with you! I know so many people that did this and they were magically protected from layoffs because of DEI, internal metrics, and all the legal loopholes.

Approach HR with your imminent plans to come out as trans. That should maximize your chances of going on the protected staff list.

if you use all your floating holidays before the end of the year, does a pro-rated amount of money get deduced from your last check? same with flex days and your anniversary.
