Comcast has perfected a strange kind of prison: one where the doors are technically unlocked, but everyone is too afraid to walk out.

That was Comcast for me. Sad energy. Re-org after re-org. Everyone seemingly operating with cortisol dialed sky high, with the stress slowing ki-ling them.

And I kept asking myself: why do you guys choose to be a Comcast corporate slave? Is the paycheck really worth surrendering that much of your time, energy, and peace?

The only difference between being a slave back then and today is that you have to house and feed yourself.

Or just maybe holding corporations accountable for questionable ethics and astonishingly bad leadership is best done through word of mouth/written text?

@db 20+ years also. Yeah, it's more emotionally mature to come here and tell the employees who are reliant on a paycheck for their mortgage and kids to just quit lol. Very "empathetic" and offers a ton of good "advice".

@a3 maybe because many of us are 20 year plus employees that have a tremendous amount of intellectual and emotional investment here. And we still care about our ex-workers and friends. You on the other hand sound like what we would call a renter. Seems like the only loser here is you.

@a3 Why are ex-employees here? Because unlike your leadership, we still care. The best thing about working at Comcast was YOU, the people (even the grumpy ones like you). You care(d). We built amazing products together, we took care of each other, we had fun, awful leadership be damned. We want to see you succeed and now that it's no longer possible on the inside, we are here to help you do that on the outside. Reach out and we'll activate our networks for you. Yes, it's awful and scary out there right now, but you got this. You are not alone. Your career will blossom after this.
In the meantime, lean on your current and ex-colleagues. Prep as much as you can. And just take a breath. You deserve better. And we genuinely care and will be here for you.

@a3 good observation. I agree people have different circumstances and posters questioning individual decisions without knowledge does not help.
For those who question people sticking around, should take some time to suggest some solutions, what worked for you may not be applicable or practical for majority!

Why do people who have since left the company keep posting here? Blows my mind that there are so many posts on this site of former employees that keep coming back to warn and urge the current employees to do something. Worry about yourself; don't you have anything better to do? Such loser energy to come here and do this - sure doesn't seem like you are so mentally freed from it as you claim leaving makes you.

If the Comcast checks are too good to give up, maybe do enough to remain employed while 1) putting more eye-catching items for your resume 2) building your marketable skills and/or 3) building a side business.

I’ve got my exit planned. Just not willing to walk away from severance if I’m this close to “the promised land”. However, if I’m not part of this round, I’m setting sail for better days in February
