Performance Management Data Reporting

Is there any reliable statistic on how many employees choose PIL versus a PIP, how many eligible employees actually retire, what percentage of PIPs HR allows to pass, and how many employees leave the company even after "passing" a PIP?

@a1 Your observations may have been true in the past but with removal of NRE and continued pressure on headcount will not be valid going forward. People will be forced out using the two PIPs in five years rule and more aggressive failure of first PIP rates. I’ve sat in rooms with these self proclaimed leaders and a small number of them take it as a badge of honor to fail people. These are the same people who don’t want to give people OWD.

Some people take the PIP if they are near a target age like people trying to reach 55 or trying to reach 60.

Some that got second NSI in 5 years do not have the PIP option and only offered PIL. No more protections for NRE, so people 53 to 55 or otherwise within 3 years of becoming retirement eligible. Some people exited within a year of being eligible to retire. Horrible way to treat employees.

@OP Based on my observations, only a very small percentage of employees are not allowed to take the PIP, for them NSI = termination. Most employees who are retirement‑eligible take PIL, and during periods when the job market was strong, many younger employees were also choosing PIL. Also, the younger employees who did ‘pass’ the PIP, very few remained with the company for long afterward.
