job change: impact to bonus & 401K match

I am considering another opportunity with a required start date in early November. The other company is not willing to change the start date.

Leaving before year-end may affect my annual bonus and 401(k) match. Does anyone know the last date we must remain employed to receive both the bonus and the 401(k) match?

I would like to understand the eligibility rules before I make a decision.

Why??? How many chances do you think you'll get to get out?
Forgive me, but you sound greedy and short-sighted.

@OP trust me, get out of there! You will regret if you don’t. You probably will receive 401k match as I recall but not bonus. Don’t worry about that in this instance. BNY is so toxic and unethical they will burn you if you stay. Congratulations on lining up a new position! I have been trying for a good while. No luck yet.

401k docs and bonus docs both are very . You must be employed on the date of distribution. If you leave prior or have turned in your notice prior, you forfeit all

No match unless over the age of 60. Bonus will all be discretionary, so you will be sc--wed.
Take the job and run.

Honestly, it’s too far out to bank on bonus and match. I can see if it was December and your new employer was asking to start mid December. At that point, it wouldn’t hurt to ask for a sign on bonus to compensate. But we’re in Sept. Poor timing on your part. Take the new and forget about the bonus and match. You’ll be happier.

@dn
That is not significant when given a choice of a better salary, opportunity, mental fit and company that actually wants you nearly right away.
It is d-mb.
Besides, if you did your homework, the other company would likely match the money anyway.

@dm I get the sentiment here but if OP is a SVP or above he may lose significant amount of money anywhere between $10k-$20k but yes the ideal strategy would be to discuss this with the future employer to get some percentage of this compensated..

@OP
Are you out of your mind? Or are you some scammer just posting to get perverse jollies?
If you have a new job lined up, leave immediately. Looking to jeopardize a new opportunity just to try and collect a few peanuts here is insane.
Go. Run and never look back.
Ps- there is no guarantee you would get the silly match anyway

If you've had your 60th birthday, they have to pay the match even if you leave before the new year.

You should leave and never look back. Deciding to not take a new opportunity because their start date interferes with your 401k match in some companies makes sense, but not when you work for BNY.

Typical BNY jobsworth posting here expecting someone else to answer their own question when they should be on Athena. Besides how do you even know you'll get a bonus? Just go to your new job, your new employer ain't going to wait for your bonus to be paid even if you do get one. It's too far out.

Look it up, but the 401(k) match used to be paid out if you were employed on October 31st.

Need to be an employee on Jan 1st to get 401k match and not yet resigned on Jan 31st for bonus. If you resign before bonus is paid, expect your mgr to withhold.
