Thread regarding AT&T layoffs

Were you laid off over the last two years, contact the EEOC now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7awnMJXNP5U

If you noticed the number of foreign workers rapidly increase in your hub, and then were hit with round and round of layoffs that seemed to target older workers, you need to contact the EEOC. You need to tell them that you were all told that unless you signed their papers that you would not receive your severance. It's no secret that at&t is using third party middle man players to hide the number of their sponsored H1B's . If you have been, or are about to be laid off, you really need to consider telling your story to the EEOC . When T flooded the number of open positions within the company, and only gave you two weeks to find something within, they may have broken the law if any of those positions went to foreign employees even if AT&T was not the direct sponsor.

whatever id--t replied with

discriminatory practices to protect citizens against age discrimination and other things is no longer protected.

can’t comprehend that DEI was removed but federal laws were not changed for various types of discrimination. Sad they are so confused, unable to navigate simple law and misinforming people. Bottom line: If you believe your federal rights were violated, go get a lawyer. Don’t sit back and do nothing bc 1 uninformed poster face wrong info. Good Luck!

OSHA regulations have been suspended and are on track to be dismantled under the current administration. You can imagine how those suspensions and rollbacks will impact safety of workers. No longer are companies forced to comply with mandatory rules to protect the lives of workers but there will be no recourse to file complaints.
Consequences ..,, are a hellava thing

In mobility, we’re undergoing the big move from Nokia bts to Ericsson bts. All tower crews, and I mean all have been non English speaking workers. The job foreman can sometimes communicate with us. Usually it’s using Google Translate. They’re either East Indian or South American. All hired through MasTec so the h1b part is hidden. In fact, there was a fatality somewhere in the upper Midwest, forgot the city, it was in Minnesota this summer. Ki-led on the tower it front of his wife no less. Just like the Mexican underground plant contractors I see all over the state; these human beings are being worked extremely hard for peanuts hourly. We’ve had multiple technicians showing up to a site to find the tower crew sleeping inside the shelter. I feel bad for the crews. They make mistakes, we show up to correct and man, they just reek and look so d-mn tired. Safety is out the window. When we arrive they scurry for their hard hats. It’s the Wild West out there. It’s just that these cowboys all drive trucks from Texas, not horseback.

@bm you are missing the EEOC legal argument. T filled positions with labor that Americans could do. In doing so, that blocked / discriminated against Americans who had two whole weeks to apply for jobs filled by proxy H1B workers, most of who and are double dipping.

They skirt the rules by hiring these h1b mill consulting companies like infosys, cognizant, techmahindra, etc.. there is a direct correlation with the staffing in these companies and the region of the ATT layoffs, like in Alpharetta for example which has a heavy south Asian presence now and that’s very visible at the att office.

@OP
It appears your complaints may bear no weight and will be DOA. Surely you realize that EEOC is a part of the Civil Rights Act of 1965. Said bill has been, for all intents and purposes gutted by the current administration and the Supreme Court. So discriminatory practices to protect citizens against age discrimination and other things is no longer protected. Do you understand how this stuff works? You have no protections under the law now against getting fired because you're older or are the ' wrong' s-x or a 'different' religion. See y'all thought the law meant something else now didn't you!

Why aren’t you working at a new job if you were laid off two years ago and still wanting to be employed? Get a job rather than filing a lawsuit.
