Downside: Overburdened staff, undervalued staff, poor morale, retention risks, partial staff paralyzed by fear. Low-to-mid levels stripped of authority.

There be plenty more fat to cut. When you have multiple sales organizations at each others throats over a large “AI” deal , then throw in services sales teams to bolt on more weight to an already already overload sales bandwagon,, is it any wonder Dell is overpricing deals to pay for all these “sales people”.
@c1 I see your point, however Dell has had a long history of not playing nice with channel. The aggregate effect of that is channel partnerships invest more heavily in predictable partnerships.
If Dell core were to be cut, the partner ecosystem would gladly represent Dell even more than they do today.

ISG With shutting down China and Poland, the head count has reduced a lot from 97k head count. Lot of layoff are happening in Dell IT… i uses by ends of the year it will be between 80-90K.

All companies are trying to push out to the Channel for decades. It never completely works. There are few Channel Partners that can take the place of the original company. Not all Channel partners are loyal either. You end up competing with business with the channel offering up alternatives. Not always but it's there.
reducing/simplifying the product line and pushing business out to channel / distribution makes for less work.

According to the 10-Q, it was 97,000 employees about 6 months ago. I am assuming it is less by now. They don't care about downsides. They are speeding ahead with changes that will change the fundamental way the company operates. At least, that is the rumor. It's happening at a lot of companies. Mentioning downsides is useless. It may feel good to you but in the end, they have something in mind. The only hope is they go too far and need people to return and help. If I didn't depend on the job and tech in general, I'd find this interesting. Right now, I am waiting for the hammer to fall.
You're using outdated numbers. It's far less than that today.
Plus, that number includes contractors, interns, consultants, and pizza delivery folks to keep the number looking higher than it really is.
