Thread regarding PepsiCo Inc. (Pepsi) layoffs

Smaller Teams, Larger Workloads, No $ to Show

At what point does an employee reasonably say, “I have accepted increased workload and expectations for three consecutive years without a meaningful merit increase or bonus, while the company’s financial and stock performance have deteriorated, so the economic relationship between my contribution and my compensation no longer makes sense”?

If PepsiCo again provides neither merit increases nor bonuses for a third consecutive year, would resigning immediately be an irrational reaction, or could it reasonably be viewed as the culmination of a three-year pattern rather than a reaction to a single disappointing compensation cycle?

I took the VRP.

Grateful for the ride. 30+ years at PepsiCo gave me a career, a network, and an education in running a business at scale that I couldn't have bought anywhere.

Here's the part nobody says out loud: if you're in your 30s or early 40s, don't spend the next 15 years waiting for a package to find you.

This is not the same company. The strategy is public — leadership has committed to "a record year of productivity savings." Productivity is a great word for shareholders. Inside the building, it means fewer people carrying more. The reductions aren't finished.

So build your options while you still have a badge. Join your local chamber of commerce. Take the coffee meetings. Return the recruiter's call. Be known outside the four walls before you need to be.

Grateful, not bitter. Just saying what I wish someone had said to me sooner.

@ac this is so true! “ Leadership is arrogant and will view you as negative for saying anything.”

This is the plan. Continue to tighten the belt until people can’t take it and leave. Reduces HC without having big rounds of layoffs during reorg. This place has gone downhill year over year with no end in sight. We are now entering PBNAOne big pile of sh-t

This is ramping up of a poor compensation policy that has been in place for a long time. Longer than 3 years. I plan on quitting without notice. Higher level job and almost 25 years in. The figure it out management style and years of cuts, unfair merit raises, and total incompetence is too much. Everyone is too afraid to say the comp is poor and point out issues. Leadership is arrogant and will view you as negative for saying anything. They know the issues and if they don’t just write it off as their incompetence.
