Thread regarding Fiserv Inc. layoffs

Retaining and Rewarding Talent

Takis posed the following in the townhall regarding this topic:

Do you enjoy coming to work every day?
Do you enjoy the people you are working with?
Do you feel that you have a future here?
Does the company value subject matter expertise?
Am I getting paid fairly?

The answer to all of these for me is a resounding NO! What about the rest of you?

To be fair to the people I work with… it’s a small handful of peers that are impossible to work with, a few that aren’t contributing nearly enough, and the VP and up leadership chain that is making work life miserable for everyone

Do you enjoy coming to work every day? -- NO

Do you enjoy the people you are working with? -- I'd say it's 50/50

Do you feel that you have a future here? -- Nope

Does the company value subject matter expertise? -- Absolutely not; they don't even recognize it when it's right under their nose

Am I getting paid fairly? -- Didn't even get a cost a living salary adjustment this year, so by default that's a no

That "real change" is getting walked out the door in the next layoff. Great advice. Solving that problem once and for all.

@a5 Thank you a5. I understand. I just wish it was better for you and some of our colleagues here. My hearts aches for so many that are unhappy right now. The world is challenging all around.

@a7 honestly it doesn’t matter, entire company is like that! who you report to will decide your growth and wellbeing! Most of these sr leaders who came as refereed employees from these executives care less about their directs and treats them as cr-p, we just have to suffer or leave.

When you report to someone that was referred by the VPs or SVPs or CTO or co-heads or whatever its a daily mental torture!

They will be extremely insecure of their merit and consider others as threat so their direct reports to through a he-l! They can’t shine or grow, if they shine they will lose their job!

@a3 I appreciate your perspective, but your response is rather presumptuous. I have daily conversations with my manager. I have also spoken to HR. I have been at Fiserv for roughly 20 years and this is a very low point in my tenure. I am not alone in this situation as I have had many conversations with others in my org with the same problems.

I was asking for others perspectives on these specific questions posed by Takis to see how life is outside of my org. Congrats on being one of the lucky ones right now, I guess.

I especially njoyed the line regarding work flexibility and the need to be in an office for collaboration. Well more than half of others I interact hourly with are in different locations.

The Town Hall again just shows how disconnected leadership is from what associates actually do and what they need to keep them. The rif was painful not only to employees that were/continue to be affected. To fiserv in a way that actually hurts the client experience which is opposite of Project Elevate. The same playbook that was used at FIS, and didn't work.

Also many other positions in this area offer 100% remote work and they stay profitable. So when leadership says those companies are pulling back is a flat out lie. Real estate is net negative these days.
