Thread regarding Dell Inc. layoffs

Fewer people, same workload

We lost half the team months ago and somehow the amount of work didn't change. The people left behind are just expected to cover everything now.

I have never seen an industry he11 bent on getting rid of people. It's a huge concerted effort.

Companies are trying to reinvent the process completely not just add AI into the mix. Redesign the process with a ton more Agentic AI in the mix with significantly less people. That is how they are going to do this. I have no idea if it will work. I have yet to see a prototype showing how all this will work and I will never see one. These processes are being kept close to the chest. It reminds me of a sort of Manhatten Project.

@es i believe "do less with less" was the successor to that mantra.

AI will help us be more productive. LOL! AI created more process and more manual work because they rolled out a system that lacks automation. Who builds these systems? Middle School tech classes? Or did they just take it out to box, slap it in, put a logo on it and say “it’s done!” I don’t think any of the decision makers or “solutions” (and I use that term lightly) have to actually use the systems.

Put out surveys to ask Engineers their pain points, input those pain points into Claude and get it to "fix" those pain points, then sack those Engineers. Rinse, repeat until most things are done with AI... Engineers are being disposed of like used diapers.

@a2 that is correct. No meritocracy exists overall and it is about favorites trying to keep you are correct those that do extra work

The point it and was to break you so only the broken remain.

work to the level that you are being paid for. Not a cent more. You wont get anything for doing extra apart from more work.
They need to feel the pain of something breaking due to teams being under-resourced before anything will be done. If you do extra, then you are just proving their decision to be correct.
