Thread regarding Oracle Corp. layoffs

SVP and VP layoffs saved so many jobs. Entire FA can collapsed instead of siloed pillars.

Redundant Devops, release engineers, process owners across all pillars are all easy target.

Meeten was one decent guy and smooth talker.

Is the MOS team in Fusion service ?

@f5 Oh I agree, I have nothing against him, I am giving him a credit. However, the org outlook is grim based on this call. I guess I appreciate a heads up.

@dv Actually give the guy credit. He was the first empathetic leader to say what we were all feeling. He could have waited until the org email is out or be totally tone deaf and fiddle with his watch or laugh, but he wanted to get ahead of it. That’s a good leader. So don’t bash him. May be do us all a favor and resign. We don’t need you on the team. Those that are left need to pull together

Company? What's nice about it? Oracle competitors offer double in severance and SAP vests all of your RSU's - including those in the future.

All-hands happened. It looks Fusion whole org is hit heavily. Depressing overall tone. Weak attempt to quell panic.

• "Lean AI focused org" = layoffs will continue to replace us with AI. They refused to rule out next rounds of mass layoffs happening in 3-4 months. Aknowledged the management bloat, which will be trimmed together with simplifying processes.
• "Meeten and others decided to take a break" = something ugly went down and they don't even have a saving face believable version of it.
• Reorg was communicated poorly: I still don't understand the nature of reorg he was going on about. Looks like folding again under CX. Even Fusion goals are not set yet by new top management.
• Q&A was unusually direct from employees.
• Focals will still happen, but will be delayed this time around.

@b4 Fusion is also making money. On prem is probably strategically important as Oracle could try to move them to the cloud and milk them longer or potentially lose them. Trying not to loose customers is probably a good part of the move to Ai data centers

Chris L will continue rewarding his buddies and creating cool demo vaporware that doesn't work in production. No wonder no one wants to move to Redwood - it doesn't work.

@a5 RightNow is still very profitable and some cool stuff is still being put into the product. They should have let it flourish . Jim has been with that product for quite a while. Some of those big customers on RightNow will never move to Fusion Service, despite the huge discounts they are trying to shower on them.

Uh, yeah. Those customers sit between Oracle and the revenue. In truth, they’re just an obstacle.

@ac legacy is making money. They don't want to support it but they can't get folks to move over and still have big contracts to support. The org has to support it. It has been gutted and gutted for years. I am not sure they can gut any more.

Remaining Jokers will get crowned kings.

Jim I can understand, the whole Right now has been systematically gutted for years. Meeten I don't understand. I thought he was on the bleeding edge with Fusion AI Studio and other AI stuff under his org. Heck even token limits were rolled out starting from his org.
The he-l happened? I heard rumors that Fusion AI Studio performance and stability is suspect - is it that bad or something else? I guess tomorrow on All-Hands we will know where we are folded into. Based on previous experience, if we are folded under existing org, then we will be sla-ghtered in the next round of layoffs.

This is not a shock. This is aligning on a vision. Legacy anything is dead. Fusion is the way forward for applications. Yes it’s true news. News of new org will be coming out shortly

Pretty interesting if true. RightNow is still making money as far as I know and Jim took it over not long ago. I'll never understand how the right now product didn't get revamped years ago into the current standard a let it flourish. Fusion is not only a failure, but ki-led the good profitable product.
