Are they granting just enough of them to breed discontent and further lower morale?

Curious as to what allowable exceptions are. I’m sure people are taking advantage, especially if managers grant exceptions that shouldn’t be allowed. The rules need to be clear and enforced.

@OP - Plenty of VPs with "business exceptions", but what exactly is their critical contribution that can't be found somewhere else? They are the ones that say everyone is replaceable. The critical people actually doing the work are not getting exceptions, while the higher ups are sitting in other states "leading" from afar.
