Surprise - not surprise, they already have a name for the next reorg. It slipped out by SG. She mentioned Reshape+, right? It is like Disney+ but with characters funnier than Mickey Mouse and Donald Duck.

@bn my response was due to being an informed employee. I used to work at convent and helped support it still after the shutdown so I had some inner knowledge of what happened and how convent basically cratered.

Why were some people hired into these roles? What particular skill did they bring to the table to lead these teams? None of the skills were on display and the downfall of some groups seems inevitable. This is tragic since there have been some very capable people in those groups. These were people who wanted promotions and tried for them. Shell needs to understand that it deals with technology. In its technology groups, it needs to be led by technology people, not politicians, hand-shakers, or merely ambitious commoners. Maybe we should have seen handwriting on the wall when Robin DiAngelo's acolyte was brought into WCK to lecture people.

@b3 if I recall the technology for Convent had a poor VIR and had issues. I think the HEFA project in Europe had issues so the plant for Convent had to be reviewed.

@ak I wish I would have thought to ask her of her perspectives on selling licenses to third parties. Watching her crumble again publicly is too much to handle though. Tough to have anything other than pity for her at least until I recall her job grade…then feelings of contempt, anger, etc. P&T “leadership” is sad. Feels like we’re supporting senile relatives. Getting them up to speed just to watch a 1000-yard stare fall over their faces is exhausting. S.V. Struggles with even high level understanding of the technology she purports to lead. No wonder Convent said no to our own licensed technology. She can’t speak to 3rd party customers, can’t engage internal employees, doesn’t understand the technology. Who was she up against for that job?

The actual org that houses the computational team and no comments regarding its fate ? Oh it’s 1am in Bengarulu, give it a moment to marinate. But very odd SG made no mention of their plight.

@a8 best part was watching S.V. say she wanted to be on camera because everyone else was visible, then to tell the audience she had nothing to say. I couldn’t have summed up her role any better. It’s rare for VPs to admit they’re a figure head that adds no value.

@a8 just a matter of few months before the CTO is let go. Dissolving the Technology org and merging a few relevant teams within different businesses is the only plausible way forward.

Regardless, the CEO is heavily focused on asset divestment, share buybacks, and aggressive cost-cutting. Technology is simply not a priority in his strategic vision.

@OP the way S. G. tried avoiding the reorg question and say how a reorg isn’t planned, was embarrassing to watch. She looked and sounded like an early career employee that was caught off guard. Of course there will be headcount reduction in legacy P&T groups, those talks have already started. Upstream is pi---d off about the P&E group and anyone that even touches downstream sitting in it, procurement is looking at moving more people to SBOs, among other examples. Does she think we don’t know or is she really clueless?
