Finding Sales & Marketing Talent

Hi folks,

After almost 19 years at Cengage, I'm now happily working with a smaller publisher. I need to fill some open roles in Sales & Marketing at the individual contributor and leadership levels. Any suggestions on where to find the best Sales & Marketing talent that might fit well with a smaller org? What job sites do you tend to use?

The "post and pray" approach on LinkedIn and similar doesn't seem to be great--I'm getting a lot of "easy apply" resumes that aren't super relevant. Meanwhile, I see on sites like this one that layoffs at Cengage (and competitors) continue, so I'm looking for any suggestions on where/how to more actively find Sales & Marketing talent. I've already hit up my own network directly; looking for any advice on additional avenues to pursue...

@OP Yes, I can help you. post your linkedin url here so we can contact you and share your information with some great industry talent. The key to finding good talent, is to make yourself available. You need to always share your contact information otherwise how can we assist you?

@OP it’s going to get a lot worse. So much institutional knowledge has walked out the door and more every day that passes. These smaller companies that they folded into HigherEd to make disguising the massive losses easier- there is hardly anyone left from those companies to answer questions and train the HigherEd side, or introduce them to the right contacts at the institutions.

@OP I’m putting in my resignation on Friday. Found the recruiter/job from another Cengage colleague.

Reach out to recruiters for advice. This isn’t a good place to recruit since there’s no way to know if you’re an executive fishing for which employees use this board.
