Seems management believes breaking Fiserv apart would destroy some of the very synergies it thinks can repair the company. But they've already pruned some individual businesses like the managed ATM services.
More organizational consolidation that targets duplication means if you are part of a business segment that is being done in both FS and MS your risk of a layoff is much greater. Add in their desire to simplify. If Fiserv already has 14 gateways but if they chose Commerce Hub as the main archtiecture, for example, then any remaining legacy platforms will be left for decommissioning.
Migrating from multiple systems to a single platform means you shrink headcount. This is going to happen over several years.
Buckle up.
