First, my thoughts for everyone impacted. Very hard to lose so many brilliant teammates.
Everyone is saying this company is a sinking ship but is it really worse than searching for a job in this competative market?

Very true. This is the reality of Oracle where d-mb management ripped all fruits and hard working engineers get paid very less
I would suggest also pivoting to other domains. Pure coding, testing and IT jobs are getting minimized. Try for different domain based opportunities
Energy, Food or Health care.
I was laid off in the previous rounds. My perspective:
- It is a tough market
- Better to start looking now than wait until you're laid off
- I would rather have left for another job before being laid off. The severance is not worth the stress of losing your job.
@OP, the real reason for searching a job in competitive market is difficult
- People worked long tenure with Oracle and Oracle technologies. They are not incompetent. but they spent their hours some where else driven by Organization/Management.
Its like you are asking a long-term soccer player to play NBA. - When you write actual code, lots of amazon's and facebook went for leetcode. People in Oracle have practical experience rather than bookish or templates. Can you ask a leetcoder to answer "How to debug a memory crash?"
- Oracle never promoted employees and had very little pay. It also blocked internal transfer heavily. I think this is where doom of Oracle started.
Real talents started shutting their mouth when No growth and they were punished for being innovative by bureaucrats. - In Oracle you never worked with Customer data or real production challenges. Oracle products are consumed by external Customers. If you go out, its hard to say I worked on production migration, off-site backups, failovers, etc. Hardly very few worked on this.
- Some of Oracle customer trying to hire you like Deloitte found that you don't go with underlying products like Finance but you just developed /maintained them based on some specs.
- The leaders and managers are supposed to bring Business and Transformation based on their Business knowledge which they failed to do.
The top failed to grow and still stick there. the middle management and some senior employees who failed to question management are affected and the new born employees are here to back fill the senior employees to drive to same pit.
You have to decide if you follow the same path to Pit/doom or be a Hero in bringing change by fixing a bigger trash or take a better road outside.
