Thread regarding U.S. Bank layoffs

Layoff in the future?

We were instructed to update our workday profiles today. Also told HR would be pulling reports to make sure we did them.Anyone think this may be cryptic before a layoff or have any additional insight? It seems odd.

When I was laid off last year about this time, there was definitely several requests preceding asking for us to update various HR resumes/profiles, however that was months in advance, not a handful of weeks. There was literally specific signals starting in January of that year that something was up. I could be wrong but if layoffs are coming for your team, it's very far down the path of making those choices at this point in time and we are just waiting for notification.

HR has been working towards utilizing Workday's capabilities for skills-based assessments and placements for years. It can and will be used for both good and evil.

Beef up your profile with as many skills as possible and as much glowing BS as you want. HR isn't validating any of it. They're just generating pretty reports that show which box(es) the AI algorithms put your profile in, based on the data you entered. To be clear, you do not matter to USB. Only what you can do for USB matters and they want to be able to see this in clean data. You = data.

Caveat: If you document that you hold certifications, you should always be prepared to show evidence of legitimacy. Especially in tech and/or if you plan to apply for internal positions at any point.

@jg We should eliminate at least 80% of the HR division in that case. Start with the chief cuck Elcio.

The OP account is accurate - they are mapping what you write as your skills in Workday to see if you compatible with the skills they "want" - if you mess this up, it is Workday AI that will take care of the selective process.

Workday AI determines if you get the job, also determines if you are a fit for the future as well.

I can guarantee you they don't look at that if they're going to select people to lay off.

I’m hearing whispers of an “announcement” by the end of the month.

Were there any complaints about career progression from your group in the last TTUS survey? Telling us to update our workday profiles has been an easy way to pretend that there’s a chance of growing your career if you just put in the effort of making sure it’s filled out.

It's for the ENS test.

In Workday there is a spot saying if you are willing to relocate or commute. Which makes me think they will layoff all remote employees not near a hub or unable to commute.

Is that why employees have been updating their pictures with obvious AI-generated touchups?

It’s not our addresses or personal information that was asked for. This was online-Internal Mobility & Restructuring: HR often uses profile data to map employee skills, identify alternative internal placements, or staff new projects during organizational changes before a layoff.I will add my team is remote.

@aq You're allowed to share your own ideas without positioning them as a rebuttal to an argument that nobody is having.

@ag maybe the update has nothing to do with career hub but with basic employee information, such as mailing, phone, etc. we don’t know what part of Workday OP was asked to update. Just playing devil’s advocate.

They might be making updates to the Career Hub. There has been a fair amount of feedback on that lately. The Career Hub pulls from our profiles to recommend roles and such. I don't see how us updating our profiles would serve them in terms of a layoff, because even if they chose to review employees with the intent to cut those with empty or minimal profiles, that wouldn't be a very effective method. Even if they threw an enforceable requirement behind it, they've lacked follow-through in so many different ways that nobody would take it seriously anyway.
