It’s so weird. We are still trying to work with whatever we have but there is no direction or communication from leadership.

@at here. @br is right and you are right. I apologize. I had read so many other posts about OP being this that or the other and while trying to defend OP saying that wasn't what OP said at all I saw your post and they all ran together. It is an emotional time for all of us. Lesson learned. Thank you for standing your ground and calling me out for my error in judgment.
@be @be It wouldn't be the first time this site handed over the ip addresses of posters after a they were given a subpoena to do so. That's an unusual thing to mention and not likely to happen without a criminal complaint and pending trial. I think @at was trying to make it clear that a lot of assumptions were be made and some insults thrown in the OPs direction based on a simple statement that the OP confirmed was as simple as it was meant to be and was as simple as some said it was. If you meant well and only offered unsolicited advice then maybe you over reached. No harm done. From what I just read others took judgemental accusatory digs at the OP. Maybe you got caught in the crossfire or your intentions were misunderstood. Either way it is done and the OP clarified. Time to move on.
@at Your asking rather or not I feel anxious about the direction of this company and the leadership at this company? Of course why wouldn’t I? It may be sunken cost fallacy but yeah I have spent years working here. I hope Verizon does well. I would like to be here and see it improve. I think these are natural desires for anyone contributing to any company. All that has happened here is I gave some unsolicited general advice to OP around trying not to worry about things outside of their control. Your reaction to that was whatever you want to call it. Basically you had some serious issue with my giving unsolicited advice to OP I guess. So my apologies so sorry for trying to show empathy towards someone on the internet. I guess I should have submitted a subpoena to some court to figure out who you are. That way I could have asked what you thought OP meant before I tried to volunteer and advice or empathy to them.
Everyone just sit back and collect that paycheck as long as you can. Let the once great company fall flat on it's face. Who really cares in the end.
@b7 OP in for the mic drop... Outstanding!
OP here Omg, so many people are trying to interpret my words!
What I’m trying to say is that there’s currently no clear guidance, goals, or KPIs for VCG as a whole to work toward. People seem genuinely lost and confused about what’s coming next and what they’re supposed to be working toward.
Yes! I was actually busy working, so I didn’t have the luxury of checking this forum every two minutes.
Anyone preaching that people should be working instead of posting here, while simultaneously spending their time posting here, is the biggest hypocrite.
@a3 Waiting for the shoe to drop from a company with no soul
@aq I thought maybe they got off early today, are on a break or vacation.
Trying to find where the OP said they are currently at work and on the clock. Nope, not there. It is weird that they are trying to work without direction or communication from leaders. But you got anxiety inducing out of that?
Okay, let's explore that. How did you feel when you read what the OP posted? Did you feel anxious or worried? Did it feel like a shared experience where you felt like you were left grasping at straws? I think maybe, as an unconscious defense mechanism, you have attributed your own worries and anxieties onto the OP. You call the OP "he" without knowing so I guess that maybe you are a "he". But I see that we are out of time so lets unpack this again next week.
@an Not so much reading words that are not written. More so understanding that what OP is describing is anxiety inducing. In the sense that if you come into your job and receive no direction you’re left grasping at straws as to why that is what is happening. When left to grasp at straws you can begin to worry about things. The things you would worry about are outside of your control. It’s really quite natural to reach this conclusion from OP’s original statement. He wants direction at the very least that is clear. He is calling out that he is not getting that direction. He is worried enough about that lack of direction to come here and post about it. All I said is hey look you don’t control that, no sense worrying about it as such. So maybe go worry about what you do control. That may be putting out job applications or networking. Nothing I said takes away from the point OP was making. It just offers them some options that may actually have impact on the situation. Sure another option is demand leaders provide direction. Then if they do not? Whelp back to don’t worry about it because you cannot MAKE them be better leaders.
@ap 100% agree that the OP is too busy on this forum when they should be working.
@am All of Verizon Leadership finally finds it voice and speaks up to flood this post only to be so confidently wrong about what was actually said.
Maybe the OP isn't hearing back from leadership because they are too busy on this forum instead of leading their teams?
@aj Wow... another person who reads words that were not written... amazing... simply amazing....
@OP It’s almost like they are busy working. Unlike you.
@a4 Bless your heart.
Not sure that is really what the @OP was saying. OP, please correct me if I am wrong.
"We are still trying to work with whatever we have but there is no direction or communication from leadership."
At no point does this say or suggest leadership was asked about internet rumors, job security or anything you think you read. Oh the struggles you must face getting dressed in the morning...
In one, nineteen word, sentence, the OP is saying they are trying to do their job and it is weird that leadership is not offering any guidance on what the objective of the job is, how to overcome any obstacles of that job or maybe even explaining what the job is.
It's as if you are someone who is good in your field and were offered a position with Verizon doing exactly that thing you are so good at and you show up for work and meet your team leader and they don't tell you where your desk is, how to log onto the system or any specific details about what is expected of you.
And if the OP has been here for a while, they still have to be updated on new expectations and changes to existing expectations. Even if they are told to log in every day, do nothing, and get paid every other week until further notice, that is at least guidance from your leader. But do get it in writing. Who am I to turn down money for nothing if it is the stated expectation from leadership?
Basically the OP is saying it is weird that leadership will not lead those who showed up for work today.
Yes. Yes it is weird. And probably says a lot about the current issues Verizon is experiencing which appears to be the result of a lack of competent leadership.
@a4 Well put control the controllable and prepare for what you can’t control in ways that you can. That’s all anyone can do in career spaces but really any space in life. We all tend to worry so much about things outside of our hands. Why borrow worry especially from areas outside of what you can influence? Love this!
Do you think leadership should address every internet rumor ? Why? Also if cuts were coming, as expected, what is the benefit of addressing it now? ANd rwally, they HAVE said many many times, in many many different ways what the plan is. Cut what doesnt make money. Get lean doesnt mean we should all lose weight.
What you are really asking is for them to reach out personally and tell you that your job is safe. They have told you many many times that it is not. So you have a job now, the paycheck will continue to come in... until some day you get the call. This is the situation. EVERYONE agrees it is far from ideal from an employee's viewpoint but that doesn't make it any less so. Also, it's just like that in most places these days. Read this, undertand this, make peace with this. It IS how it is
