I'm based in the US and just got confirmation on the actual long-term roadmap leadership is working toward. The goal is to aggressively shrink the total US workforce down to exactly 4,000 employees by 2030.Right now, upper management is debating how they’re going to enforce that number. We don't know yet if they'll manage to hit the 4K baseline through natural attrition which is entirely possible given how many people are completely checked out and looking for the exit after those brutal SHAPE survey results or if they're going to have to resort to more structured layoff rounds to force the headcount down.As part of this 2030 strategy, the US roles that actually survive are going to look very different. The plan is to push as many positions as possible completely out of Silicon Valley and the Bay Area, relocating whatever is left to lower-cost US cities. But even with that domestic migration, the absolute ceiling for the entire US footprint is capped at 4,000.They’re keeping the exact timeline quiet so they don't trigger a mass panic or scare off customers mid-cycle, but the end state is already decided. If you're currently in a US-based role especially in the high-cost Bay Area offices, this is the reality on the horizon. Dust off your resumes and protect yourselves.
For employees in the other mature R&D hubs globally, I don’t have any information on the global situation but good luck to you too, since we don’t know what they are planning and things don’t look good in other countries too based on posts here.

Guys don't make up random numbers
Go to lookup , all the data is there (site wise breakdown and other data)
But 1 caveat , The numbers include people who have just resigned /recently resigned but not removed from lookup/teams just yet.
Are the targeting a certain percentage of total headcount to be in us?
If 4K is 20% total would be 20k
If 4k is 25% , total would 16k,
I guess 16k could be the eventual target
I think US was around 6.5K+ right after the acquisition.
@az 1 year before, it was roughly 6k of US based employee. So down to 4k is 30% cut
After all the layoffs, I think US Synopsys plus Ansys is around 5.5K.
@at 2,007 US ANSYS headcount at August end. Unsure of US SYNOPSYS.
@at It's down to 20K (exactly) for the total global number of employees. That's according to this site, https://www.unifygtm.com/insights-headcount/synopsys
Does anyone have the headcount for the current number of US-based employees?
What about EMEA?
What's the current us footprint, post-recent layoffs?
There will be many small companies coming out if this happens.
That’s cool, actually no confirmation in CXO’s email saying this is the last round, it is truly possible the case right now
