Thread regarding Wells Fargo & Co. layoffs

What a cr-ppy place this has become

Leadership lies to protect themselves, blames anyone nearby when things go wrong, and then does layoffs with zero communication. I'm waiting for the day when the job market improves, because I think we'll see a major exodus of the best people.

Given AI, the job market isn't likely to improve.

The best are already gone. When the job market improves the middle tier will exit as quick as they can. And leave Wells Fargo with the workforce they deserve.

It’s a leadership trait. TK is the master at it.

@a5 Nothing sums up Wells Fargo more accurately than a Dunning-Kruger boot-li---r using "irregardless" in a smug, logically fallacious attempted take-down.

The company’s definition of “diversity” appears to be remarkably selective. The hiring pipeline seems to draw overwhelmingly from the same demographic, creating an unusually homogeneous workplace. Add strong food odors throughout the office and frequent communication challenges in meetings, and the overall environment can feel surprisingly disconnected from the polished corporate setting one would expect. An interesting approach to workplace culture—just not necessarily an effective one.

@at
So true! Definitely the case in my department. They just laid off all the best people they had. The ones left don’t know what they’re doing and don’t care either. Whoever is making these decisions is going to bring this bank to its knees.

It's remarkable how differently old records can read once you know which questions to ask.

Exactly right. The best people have the most marketable skills and the most opportunities. When they leave, and they will, all you're left with is mediocre employees, wet behind the ears know-nothings, and those hanging on until retirement. Are they some good ones in these groups? Of course, but your org will never be best in industry with to top talent bailing all the time.

Please tell me you didn’t just say “irregardless”

@OP here’s the conundrum with your comment-the very, very best people can always find a good job at virtually any time irregardless of the market. However, the thousands of people who lay around every day and have eked by for literally decades can’t find another job and will never leave voluntarily.
